We visited in the morning the sunlight was beautiful, it was a lovely place very well thought out. Costing 100k or you can pay more to do a tour including Apple pie and a drink, we did the 100k tickets. We were given a guide book with interesting information, and one of the workers explained the life cycle of butterflies. Really magical experience to see all the beautiful butterflies for adults and if you have children I'm sure they would love it. Also, a small waterfall/river runs through the place which you can see. Would highly recommend on the way to see Kuang Si waterfall, it would be a long trip just to see the butterflies.

Beautifully curated park and outdoor experience. We would recommend a stop here to stroll through the garden, with the enclosed butterfly garden a definite highlight. The park is thoughtfully designed with beautiful plants, landscaping, and streams and waterfalls flowing throughout. The small cafe is a nice spot for Dutch apple cake and beverages. There are informative handouts and staff that inform you of the butterflies and their lifecycle.

This lovely park, run by a very friendly and welcoming Dutch woman, is at the higher end of the scale cost-wise for attractions in Luang Prabang, but is nevertheless worth a visit while visiting Kuang Si. The setting is beautiful, there's a lovely cafe and some of the butterflies are truly gorgeous. Great undertaking. Oh, and the fish spa is fantastic!

This is a lovely little place to visit after the falls BUT it’s not very big and the entrance fee is 100,000 K each (x3 for our family). You are given a little map and guide which makes the place look much bigger than it really is. In 30 minutes you are finished, unless you spend time at the cafe. The butterfly enclosure was nice, and the natural fish spa was a novelty. My son enjoyed looking at the caterpillars and chrysalis.
I know that the money goes to support the local village, it just seemed a bit high compared to the cheap entrance to the falls.

Very nice little stop on the way back from the waterfalls. Very well received by the owner of the park and her daughter who explained to me the different phases of the life of the butterflies which I was then able to discover in the park. A little fish spa break which was good for my tired feet and which made me laugh without forgetting the snack where I ate very well. Furthermore, the owners and the park financially support poor children in the village, allowing them to access school education, meals and medical care, which for me is yet another point so as not to forget to pass by this place.

This is one of the best butterfly gardens I have been too. The kids loved the butterfly scavenger hunt. The staff was amazing. There was a beautiful woman inside the butterfly area that was super knowledgeable. She was very engaging and the kids were good listeners. The grounds are set up well and the little cafe was selling some delicious smelling food. I would def make a trip here if you have young children (mine are 4 and 7).

The Butterfly Park is a really fascinating place. I knew a little about butterflies, but having someone to explain everything including the life cycle was really interesting. We got to see them at all the different stages and even saw a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis. We were amazed at all the different sizes and colours of the butterflies. The park is set downstream from the Kuang Si falls, so is a very beautiful area as well and the cafe does excellent food.

We arrived here about 1pm on our way back from the morning at the falls. The guy working the front counter was very rude. It cost 40,000kip (about $6CAD) to enter. They give you a map and educations information to help guide you threw Laos wildlife & plants.
The Park offers educational excursions to local school children to increase awareness of the fragile ecosystem.
The property is split into five area: the butterfly garden enclosure, colourful garden, orchid garden, cactus garden and a waterfall. There are many different types of butterflies in many different sizes in a lush green gardens. There were also a lot of lazy cats.
There is a small restaurant with koi fish pond and ducks. They serves cold drinks , sandwiches and small desserts. On site restrooms were clean and they had western toilets.

This is a beautifully designed and very informative park. You'd be crazy to miss this attraction if visiting the Falls. You learn a lot about butterflies but it's just a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It looks like they have projects to engage with education and the community in the future so a very worthy place to support. Don't miss the apple pie at the cafe - the best I've ever had!!

At the Falls,we were approached by a friendly Dutch lady who told us about the Butterfly Park which I visited on the way back to Luang Prabang with our daughter. It was a haven of delight and peace. There were knowledgeable people on the spot to give insight to the species and their life patterns. As a butterfly lover from Europe this sanctuary was a welcome surprise.

Did you use a tour company for the falls & elephant park & butterfly park? if so, which one and how were they? Particularly their English language skills and willingness to talk about their culture, etc?

Luang Prabang, Laos
Dear Jeffrey,
Thank you for your question! Our ButterFlyPark is located only 300 m. before the famous and crowded Kuang Si Falls.
We are happy more and more tourcompagnies include a combined visit in their program... Falls & ButterflyPark.
The mission of our butterflypark is to become a nature studycenter for Lao schools. Step by step we getting close to our mission which involves a lot of studying and preparations of educational materials.
Our park is already wellknown by it's landscaped gardens and difversity of beautiful butterflies. Our staff is all local and we are happy to support our village and local suppliers.
For public our Park is about meeting Lao nature, enjoy landscapes and butterflies, share information by guiding and guidebooks... and ofcourse the dutch make the best coffe - cakes and sandwiches :-)
... we hope to welcome you, butterfly regards!
Olaf & Ineke
