Top ways to experience Etihad Museum
The area
Neighbourhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighbourhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

I was here with my guests (small group of 20 people) really nice , peaceful place , very modern , explaining the history of union.
We had an Emarati Tour Guide MARWA AL DHAHLI, who gave us a very detailed tour through the museum, being a guide i learnt alot from her.
Very friendly, patient & answered all the quiz asked by my guests.
Overall a great place to visit , and if u can get a guide like her , that will be icing on cake

The building itself is imposing while the inside is smaller than other museums but much larger in the cultural presentation of history.
It includes -The guest house
-The Union House
-The Museum
you have to ask at the information inside the museum to be shown the first two places which are actually the most important. You will be escorted by a guide, you can not go alone.

This museum is minimalist and not a museum with lots of artefacts. There is an absolute wealth of information hidden behind technology that I, as an over 70 found mind boggling. Slide a physical cube with a subject title (there are quite a few) onto the middle of the table and all the information you want is displayed on a totally disconnected wall panel.
I also found it a bit odd that the history began in 1971 when the UAE was born. Partly because I'm a Brit, and partly that I've lived in the gulf off an on for the most part of my life since 1964.
The host on our tour was a charming Emirati.

We didn't quite know what to think after having visited this museum.

From an architectural perspective, this museum is stunning.
The outside shell is slick, nicely designed with smooth lines and nice curves.
From the inside, the idea to have the museum underground is very interesting. The exhibit is very well spaced out and it is presented in a beautiful setting, well decorated.

What made a counter-weight to this is the content of the exhibit itself.
Although quite informative for someone who didn't know much about the creation of the UAE, the various sections were quite repetitive.
It is always the same narrative line that is explained: the Sheiks were great, they were visionaries and thanks to them, we have the UAE today.

It felt overly-patriotic and this repetitiveness got to us at about the halfway point, to the extend we stopped reading the explanations and focuses more on the items on display.

For the building alone, we would recommend a visit.
The parts of UAE history you'll get inside are nice... but be warned that you'll get saturated at some point.

Expect to spend about 1.5 hours there.

I LOVED IT!! I'm a Dubai resident and this museum is absolutely necessary to perpetuate the culture and history of this beautiful country. The moment I stepped in I could see how personal and caring the staff was, always with a smile and willing to help. They took the time to talk to you while always being nice. I really want to highlight how caring every single person was at the museum that made me feel like "at home". I want to highlight the sympathy of Lee, since she was impeccable and caring all the time. It was lovely to meet her and to engage in a conversation with her.
The decoration and the meaning behind the design is out of this world. The facilities are awesome, since the 3D videos to the way they present information.
Even the restaurant of the museum was incredible.
Besides, the price is super affordable!
I'm so happy that I took the time to visit the museum and will DEFINITELY recommend it to my friends and take my family there once they come to visit me.

No any doubt for giving 5/5 for Etihad museum

The museum was modern and full of necessary information and equipments to help you understand the history of UAE.

My most favourite thing fo Etihad museum is timing. They close late (8PM) which makes me feel comfortable to visit in the evening (to be honest weather during afternoon is too hot to go out)

If you are historical traveller or museum lover please dont miss this place!!!

Ps.it's quite difficult to find taxi back from there. Taxi application will be helpful for your transportation on the way back home

The Ethihad Museum is all about the formation of the UAE, joining the seven emirates into one union. It's excellent history for those unfamiliar with the formation of UAE, but it seems to be a missed opportunity that the museum includes little else about the history and culture of the region. Seems it's seldom visited; the day we went, we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Some of the staff seemed a bit put out that we interrupted their rest. Can't say as I'd recommend the place unless you're really out of other things to do.

I visited this museum while on a shore excursion in Dubai. This museum is very showy on the outside and very large and spacious in the inside. It covers the story of the formation of the UAE. It is quite beautiful but it doesn't have enough material to fill the space. However it is still an interesting museum to see.

Etihad Museum gives you some real insight into the history and heritage of Dubai. It is very interesting museum very modern and very interactive. Moreover, this museum is very interesting to understand the creation of Emirates; of course it is not an old country. We highly recommend it to learn about UAE modern history. Thanks.

Beautifully designed and kept, it's a great little museum to find out more about the history of the Emirates, how they were founded and the challenges they faced. It's located next to the house that saw the birth of the UAE, and it can be visited as well. Very good way to spend a couple of hours. It's not free though.
