This is a nice museum in the heart of Deira in Old Dubai. Hard to find, but worth the effort. Interesting exhibits on the history of Dubai and life in the old city.

I happened upon this gem of a museum while wandering around the Deira neighborhood of Dubai. I was more interested in learning about the history and culture of Dubai rather than seeing the glitz and glamour of it. This is a self-guided museum that gives...More

An interesting historical site in old part of the town. The two story building is a well preserved arab school from the beginning of the 20th century. The entrance is free and there are self explanatory placards all around. Don't miss to visit the museum...More

Easy to get to by the Dubai metro at Al Ras station! Friendly gate guard offered a simple welcome and orientation. It's a two story building with self explanatory placards and well captioned displays. Can't help to feel the honor of being part of the...More

Just like the heritage house, the entrance of this oldest school is also free. They are also a short distance apart. Because it is free and shows a bit of the history, this is a must visit when you are in the area.

After visiting the spice souq in Dubai, I happened upon this museum that recreated a typical village and school from the early 20th century, when the Al-Ahmadiya School was founded. It's a nice respite from the markets in the area, and the museum and school...More

Small, but one of the few places to see real Dubai history. Several small air-conditioned rooms show different aspects of the school, with recreations of classrooms. About half an hour is long enough to see it all, so make it part of a Deira itinerary.

The school is next door to the Heritage House. The old school is now a museum that provides information about the schooling system in Dubai at that time.

The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the

place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to
uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really

of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily
recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original
