About
Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building. Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004. Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

Do your research before you go up! Total oversight but you cannot take strollers up the Burj (yet mobility scooter & wheel chairs are ok?!?).

I was also advised I couldn’t take any liquids (pre-made milk).

Busy. Very busy!

Didn’t spend anytime talking to staff so cannot comment on that.

I spent 10 mins at the top after waiting in the queue for an hour.

There won’t be a right time to go up, just plan ahead and do your research.

Went to floors 124 and 125.
Amazing experience - the view from over the city was incredible.
Even the lift rides are great with the light shows. Climbs so fast your ears pop!

It was an awesome experience and visit. It is worth visiting to the 153 floor and also have coffee, tea, cappuccino and some treats up there. But unfortunately it is very expensive.

My kids loved this. Bought the tickets online, went up in the late afternoon, spend a few hours at the mall and then go watch the Dubai fountains at sundown.
