Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

I'm comparing to the Cn tower and to me it's the same. Few things I didn't like was that it was a far walk to get to because you have to walk through the mall to get to the Burj and also there's no main entrance. I also didn't like the fact that the elevator we couldn't see outside as... More

Amazing views from the top, great fountain show every half hour in the afternoons and evenings, only lasts three minutes, followed by the Burj Khalifa being lit up in various colours.

A must do in Dubai. It provided amazing views and on a clear day you can see for miles. They had some interactive binoculars located through out the floor that showed the development of Dubai. Hard to imagine in just a few years the amount of development that Dubai has gone through, and this provided a brief history. The elevator... More

It's amazing creation of human beings... it's flashing lights in the evening so beautifully..... all different sparkles and colors.... just wow. But in the end of the day it's just a concrete tower, I would rather get amazed by beautiful nature somewhere in Asia than this useless stick in the concrete jungle.....

My wife booked this for a fixed time so we could watch the sunset from the top and from start to finish it was terrible. I say this as someone who has visited Freedom Tower in NYC who know how to run something like this. The Burj was hot, full of queues without any real clue as to why, crammed... More

Visited the Burj Khalifa Monday 20th February 2017 , I booked tickets online before travelling to Dubai and I'm so glad I did as when we arrived for our time slot, every slot was sold out. From the time you enter and queue for security you can take in the information and pictures of the stages of it been built... More

On an afternoon off we went down to the Dubai mall where you have all the restaurants by the lake. Wanted to see the tower in daylight first to gauge how big it really is !!! What an amazing feat of architecture , it dwarfs all the surrounding buildings which are impressive in themselves and when dusk turns to darkness... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
