This was the last stop on day 2 of our tour of the Bolivian altiplano starting from Uyuni and ending in San Pedro de Atacama. The lake appeared reddish from a distance and I thought it would appear normal when we would get closer. But...More

Breathtaking lagon! We passed it on our 3 days trip from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni with Senda Andina (tour operator).

Laguna Colorada is inside the Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa. It is a stop on the excursions between Uyuni and San Pedro de Atacama.

The lake has a red coloring which compliments the color of the flamingos. Best to use a trip as the birds do not allow you to get very close. The white borax compliments the red coloring.

We visited the Laguna on a 3-day-trip from Uyuni and we liked it most of all the ones on our trip. The intense red in combination with the blue, grey and white along with the flamingos made the perfect scenery for some amazing pictures.
