The background story to La Glorieta Castle, and seeing how it plays out by visiting the 'castle' is interesting. However, compared to castles you would see in Europe / the UK, this is far from par. The castle is near a military base, so don't...More

Take the local bus (4) from the corner of Arenales and Loa until the end of the line. Costs 1.50 Bolivianos each way. Entry to the grounds and gardens is free. You can go inside but this costs and also extra for a camera. Nice...More

Actually the visit is NOT worth it, you just pay to enter into an empty and abandoned building, there are not any guide to explain the history of it, nor any literature around the place.

at less than 30 minutes from Sucre center, the castle is a jewel that can be visited with local guide that provide a lot of info about the family and the history of the castle. Nice 2hours excursion from Sucre

The mansion itself has a wonderful story of a couple who were either A) awarded the title of prince and princess by the Vatican for their work with orphans OR B) bought their titles. It is an eclectic and bizarre combination of classical byzantine, classic...More

Historical castle 20 m away from the city, with a fascinating history and strange mix of all styles. Still in the process of restoration, but very interesting to understand bolivian history

To be clear, you are allowed to take photos. I've noticed several reviews saying that you can't take photos. There is a small fee that they charge you to have "Camera rights", and after that, snap away. The history of the place is quite interesting....More

The site is not well restored/preserved. Most of the rooms are completely empty of furniture and the architecture alone is just not that impressive. I enjoyed wandering the building but was underwhelmed overall. Given the admission price a few directive signs and some additional information...More
