The Arcadia Valley resort was really great. Swimming pool is open late, fire pit and outside grill to use and enjoy for all guests. The bungalows are comfy, roomy and quaint. The grounds around the Abby are beautiful and serene. The owner & staff are friendly and helpful. Within 30 minutes or so there are numerous places to visit, hike, fish and enjoy. Elephant Rocks, Tom Sauk Mtn, Meramec Springs, Hughes Mt, Caledonia and so much more! Never a dull moment unless that is what you are looking for, then there are ample opportunities to be off on your own as well.

If you are looking for an area to view a great sunset go to Arcadia Valley. It is a mix of Missouri mountains and rural family farms with a sprinkle of small town.

We spent a week in the area and there is plenty to do outside in nature. We will be coming back to do it all again.

All of my life I had heard of Johnson's Shut-in, and a few years ago I took my family there one Saturday. Since then, I've gone back again to take my youngest son camping in the Valley. I've also taken two other trips back with my entire family. There is so much to do here within just a few miles. In addition to Johnson's Shut-ins, we have also gone to Elephant Rock, the Fort Davidson Historic Site, and Tom Sauk Mountain. The natural terrain is gorgeous. The people are very laid back and friendly. We've had good experiences with two different hotels in the area and found a couple of really good restaurants. There are very few places I love going back to again and again, but Arcadia Valley is one of those places.

I love going back home to Arcadia Valley❤️ If it wasn’t for my son that plays football, I’d probably move home. It is so pretty especially in the fall and the people are so friendly. I visit often and you should too! I stayed at the Acafemy one evening and in the AV Bungalows recently and it was so relaxing ❤️ We are at The Abbey and it was delicious❤️ And don’t forget to stop by The Woods for some delicious coffee! It is a wonderful little town to visit!

The beautiful Arcadia Valley is the gateway to several lovely state attractions, one Rail Road, and a number of quaint B&Bs and eateries, oh, and one historically magnificent Battle Field--Pilot Knob. Nestled in the lovely St. Francois Mountains, this area is a beautiful drive any time of the year, but you don't want to miss the fall to be sure. Arcadia Valley also hosts some awesome Blue Grass festivals and other events through the year to include one of the nation's largest Reenactments!

My wife & I booked a one-hour trail ride on a hot July morning through our nearby lodging (Plain & Fancy B&B). The rates are by far the lowest we've paid for a horseback guided trail ride in 20+ years, the scenery was varied (trail runs between Stouts Creek and a large meadow then into some wooded sections at the base of a hill), the trails were easy to navigate with Tim leading us, and our horses - Shiloh & Katie - were responsive to their trained neck reigning (one hand on reins moved side-to-side for guiding while leaving a free hand for taking pictures).

Our guide Tim is knowledgeable of the terrain & of the Arcadia Valley area, and he threw in an occasional factoid about the local plant life & native animals (including the native blackberry bushes along the trail and the doe that appeared on the trail in front of us & lingered in the woods as we slowly road by). But most of the time, he just kept an eye on our progress & horse behavior from his lead position, while allowing us to enjoy the ride & our surroundings. As a bonus, Tim added a couple of short trots with the horses in some sections of the wooded trail on the north side of the meadow; but you can decline that opportunity if you don't feel comfortable with some bouncing in your saddle.

Arcadia Valley Stables also offer 2-hour rides, custom rides, and introductory rides for children, all at very affordable prices. They offer horse boarding for riders far more serious & dedicated than me

We strongly recommend booking a trail ride at Arcadia Valley Stables, either while staying in the region or as part of a day trip from the St. Louis area or Cape Girardeau or Southern Illinois. It's a low priced, easy ride with beautiful scenery & a top-notch guide to make your experience memorable.
