We were lucky that it was sunny n freshly snowed. It was one of the most spectacular places we visited. Tickets are 35 euros but it was sooo worth it. The train was safe, interesting and comfortable for the trip at the summit. There is...More

it was wonderful, but if you go, it is better to verify the weather. We were on 15th August, and on top it was very cold (7 C degree) and a lot of fog. Although that we were able to see a little bit of...More

Travelled the railway as an optional excursion with Leger Holidays to St. Wolfgang. The journey to the station below the summit of the Schaffberg has excellent views down to St. Wolfgang. From the summit station there is a short walk to the top, where standing...More

We viewed the Schafberg Cog Railway at the beginning of the year on a TV Show "Greatest Trains Around the World". As we were going overseas later in the year, I booked a night at the Schafbergspitze Hotel at the top of the mountain, so...More

Yes, the views at the top are beautiful, just like all the reviews say. BUT my review is about "what to do" or more importantly "what not to do" What is not beautiful is the chaos of getting back on the train, there is no...More

The train is fun but the most impressive part is the Breathtaking view at the top of the mountain. You may want to spend 2-3hours or more there if you wanna walk more trails.

The cog railway is terrific and you can get a ticket that combines it with a cruise on the lake. The day we went up the mountain wasn't real good weather wise. Cloudy and cool so as a result we weren't inclined to hang around...More

I found the best way was to ride up and walk down which can be done comfortably inside 3 hours. Take time to visit the cafe on the top. The train itself is really popular with tourists.

We went on what turned out to be a glorious September day, not too many people. The views are fabulous, on the way and at the top. But do remember that when you get to the top, you have to 'book' your seat to go...More
