Samaipata has lots of attractions and many activities to do, just need to get in touch with a good guide and that's it. It is a must visit area, you'll not regret; visit Samaipata and discover what there is for you.

If you're tired of the bustle, commercialization and congestion of Santa Cruz, Samaipata is the perfect antidote. The attraction of this tiny pueblo is simply there is nothing to do but relax. Find yourself a hammock, good book and nice bottle of wine and you're set. What distinguishes Samaipata from other small towns near Santa Cruz is the mountain setting,... More

We caught a private taxi to Samaipata. It took 3 hours and with 4 of us in the car. Was quite uncomfortable. We hired an English-speaking guide who took us around and explained the ruins and also some local flora. It took around 2 hrs but we didn't rush. It was good to see but maybe not worth the 3... Really nice town, just 3 hours by bus from Santa Cruz. Besides the town, it's possible to visit the Inca archeological ruins el fuerte, cuevo and amboro national park with budget prices, defenitely recomended

The "highway" from Santa Cruz to Samaipata takes you from the flat of the lowlands through the narrow, winding and steeply enclined river valley that leads to Samaipata and the ancient El Fuerte. The road is rarely in good condition and is frequently under repair due to the many land slides the region is prone to. But the steep mountain... More

A horrible road to drive on But a great road none the less. If it rains then the road gets a bit dodgy. Make sure your car has good suspension!!!!

If you want to do this as a day trip from Santa Cruz then be prepared to have a rough day. You can take public vans (6 People) which are leaving once full. These vans are not leaving from the central bus station so inform yourself upfront. The bad road will take the drive several hours to bring you to... More

The Inca made it here, yes, but the rock is far from being the main attraction. I love the trips you can take to the jungle around the village (good tour guides can be found easily). The village itself is a good stop to relax.

This place is about 3 hour drive from Santa Cruz but the sight is amazing. This is a ancient site carved into the mountain. The carved area is over 200 meters long and the soft sand stone has been damaged a bit. But it is a amazing site. It dates back to pre Inka times. It is high up in... More
