We lived in XIamen for a number of years. Until recently we could freely roam around the seaside campus of this lovely city. But now you need to stand in a line and hope you are the first 500 or so tourists who can come...More

The university is open to the general public after 5pm (free entry, take your passport) We didn't go in due to huge crowd that was gathering even at 4pm. For some reason the Chinese take some perverse pleasure in queuing for hrs to visit something...More

This university for Chinese is like Yale for us. So all Chinese tourists want to visit it. To enter the university don't forget your passport. Walk through it and a tunnel will take like 2 hours.

A huge campus with impressive business, gardens full of colors and smells plus a delightful lake: plenty of tourists around as well!

We were able to get access to Xiamen University through friends that teach there, and it is definitely a beautiful campus. We visited during the Summer when school was out, however you wouldn't really think that with the number of people all over the campus...More

Visited on a weekend, very interesting landscaping and architecture, especially the library building. Gaining access to the site required ID (i had my passport) so bear that in mind.

Typical appearance, need passport to enter, or Chinese resident card. The draw is the beautiful ocean scenery of Xiamen and the Gulangyu Island.

Opening hours are 1pm to 3pm but only very limited numbers. Opens again in late afternoon at 5pm but expect big crowds which start to gather about 3pm to wait for the opening time of 5pm.
