We walked both above ground in the newly erected department stores and had lunch at one of the popular beef noodles restaurant that was featured on CCTV; very authentic and reasonably priced. The underground shops were endless; mostly shoes and clothes. Wife loves the shopping and bargaining; never pay for the initial asking price. This place is caters more or... More

My wife is from Harbin and she didn’t even want to take me here. She asked me why and I told her because it’s something to do and she said it isn’t. She was right. There’s not much to see or do. Yes, there is shopping but it is all junk and not worth your time. She is a local... More

Hongbo Square used to be home to the magnificent Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas, but no sports a truly ugly snow flake monument (if it can be called that). Underneath is a truly impressive underground mall housed in the city's old bomb shelters. The Square is surrounded by impressive buildings and is near several malls and the World War... More

We visited this square while on a trip to the Heilongjiang Provincial Museum. It was originally named after the museum. It was the site of the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas which was destroyed during the chinese cultural revolution. There is underground shopping here in the remains of an air raid shelter. We were unable to view these shops as we... More

Revisited here recently in May, Hongbo square features itself as a revolutionary type of square with the PLA kind of symbol on the summit of the square. Never thought that the underground/tube could also be beneath the square

The underground shopping mall is actually a city by itself. I spent three days inside and still I have not seen all. It is also a big labrinth. Be ambitious enough to explore because you cannot imagine how big it actually is. This comes from someone who survived all giant shopping malls in Asia and Europe...ME. This is probably the... More

Actually there is a old Russian church on the center of the road a long time ago, but finally it was burned down. Now this square become a commercial center that have either underground sale markets, big high-end shopping malls, five-star hotel and an important transit hub. There are HRB Metro line 1 and numbers of buses that can take... More
