The key attraction here is supposedly the only land and water gate in the World. Although the gate itself is not quite as spectacular as the tourist hype would lead one to believe, the surrounding area of canals, bridges and temples adds up to a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. You can take a sampan trip... More

After seeing all the gardens in Suzhou and reading Lonely planet's praise for this place, i was a little disappointed when I saa the Panmen gate scenic area. The gate itself i a fine relict of old times, but there is no special view from the top - just the rooftops of nearby houses. The garden is pretty and enjoyable,... More

My husband and I spent about 3 hours here. There is the garden area, the gate area, and the outside water area. The day we went there was a fashion show by the large pond, so we got to see the lovely ladies, but not the cool building. I loved the canals and surrounding buildings one can see from inside... A pity we made it to Panmen Gate after sunset and hence was unable to appreciate the full grandeur of her beauty. The place is huge and was used as a filming location for several Chinese blockbuster serials. Its not difficult to understand why as it had all the key ingredients of an ancient beautiful Chinese city. Would be good... More

To get to the Panmen Scenic area, we walked along the newly developed riverside walkways in the pleasant shade of the trees and away from the crowds. The remnants of the city wall, gates and ramparts made this an interesting visit.

Interesting stroll in the mornings. Had a pagoda and a big garden before the city gate. Lovely scenery and a good jogging track around

Went before sunset so it was a good timing to take nice pictures. Enjoyed strolling around the place just to short(around 45 mins)as we need to board the coach.

I spent 3 hours and walk 17KM to go around the entire river surrounded the ancient wall. It was a nice place to walk and discover the historical place in Suzhou. The road along the river was nicely build for you to walk and execise

The Pan Gate or Panmen as is known in Mandarin is said to have more than 2,400 years of history. It has the only remaining original coiled gate. The Pan Men gate is part of the Panmen Scenic Area Park. There are three main attractions in the park.- The Pan Men Gate, Wumen Bridge and Rui Guang Pagoda.

This was incredibly picturesque and quiet. I would recommend this over the gardens I visited along PingJiang.
