Have enjoyed a few walks up and down the area. I really enjoy that the vendors are not aggressive like the tourist areas in Beijing. Prices at the shops are very fair which eliminates the need to bargain for items.

Suzhou's old town is called "Venice of China". However there are only few spots where it gets really atmospheric and picturesque, e.g. on Shantang Street. It is worth seeing if you are visiting the city, that's for sure.
