The sculptures are very beautiful and stunning. So wonder that how the ancient can do all of this. It so sad that good pieces of art were destroyed by nature, the wind erode until some of it was gone.

It takes some effort to get to Datong, but well worth it. The rock carved Buddhas inside of caves were impressive.

Hey Susy, Datong is definitely a good place to visit. You have Yungang Grottoes that are accessible by public bus so no need to spend money on a driver (they try to rip off foreigners as much as they can). Not far from... More
