About
Trek, bike, and climb in Eastern Tibet. Bring your friends, or make some new friends along the way. Adventure Access specializes in custom-built adventure tours for Tibetan regions of Western China, namely Sichuan and Gansu. Simply stated, we are here to put you on the mountain. Our staff is made up of Tibetans, Han Chinese, and Americans. We are able to provide unparalleled experiences that blend a Western view of service, a Chinese understanding of facilitating programs domestically, and cultural backgrounds that lend depth to all our programs. We’ve been living and working throughout Eastern Tibet since 2001. Our main office is located in Chengdu, with a branch office in Songpan, Sichuan. From there, we offer mountain biking, trekking, mountain climbing, cultural tours, and local home-stays. We are the only outfitter in Songpan. We are open year-round, but the best season for adventure travel is May – October. Peak season is June-August.

We spent Chinese new year with Adventure Access in Songpan. I almost don't want to write too much here as it will give away to others the amazing time that could be you in store for you if you choose to do the same.
Let's just say there were dragons, fireworks, delicious food and genuine experiences of Tibetan culture. Brian was a wonderful host with a deep understanding of Tibetan culture and history.
The surroundings were stunning, and simply put, I can't imagine a better experience in China for celebrating the new year.
So a huge thank you to Brian, his lovely family, and everyone else who joined the trip for making it such a memorable time.

It was a joy to have Adventure Access take us around some of the beautiful landscapes of Songpan. Brian, the founder, is easy going and knowledgeable in the gears like bikes and helmets. The bikes were of the highest quality. There was two other guides that were knowledgeable in the culture and in Songpan as a whole. Brian and his team took us through the Ridge Route, which was for beginners/intermediates. The view was spectacular and the guides were friendly and eager to help. Highly recommend Adventure Access.

The idea of spending Chinese New Year in the city was awful- but I didn’t want to travel out the country. So when asking around for ideas this trip came up. It was wonderful, between the constant beautiful scenery; the cultural richness and the physical activity; I couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. I feel rejuvenated from the fresh air, exercise and adventure. Our guide Brian, was informative and always willing to go the extra mile to help the entire trip. Thank you, Brian!

This was the third time Brian and his crew have organized a trip for my family. On all three occasions we've had a great experience. They are skilled guides, possess extensive knowledge about local culture and history, and obviously enjoy their work. No hesitation about recommending them to anybody!

Brian and his crew did a phenomenal job of setting me and some friends up with a BEAUTIFUL camping spot in western Sichuan. Took us straight there, arranged for everything, and even pointed us to a breath taking hike where he explained lots of interesting stuff about Chinese history. Super solid time. Thoroughly recommend this to anyone!

We enjoyed a fun and beautiful trail race near Songpan, organized by Adventure Access. Brian and his team worked hard to map out a challenging 5k and 15k course in the picturesque mountains of Niri Valley. Our family also thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of a sweet, local Tibetan family. This is the 3rd trip we have taken with Adventure Access and we have been so pleased every single time! Songpan is a beautiful location and Brian's team does an amazing job of creating a fantastic experience for each and every person!

Brian cares about and believes in what he is doing. He is very knowledgeable about Chinese history, speaking both Mandarin and Tibetan. He is a skilled trekking guide and always puts safety first. The prices are good and the tours are excellent with minimal crowds. For a guide in West Sichuan, I'd recommend Brian and adventure access.

From start to finish they helped with everything; organising my accommodation and travel and any communication with the hotel during my stay too. All the guides were friendly and spoke both English and Chinese. Even though I was in a group of other travellers I felt that we were all taken care of expertly. I went for three days to Songpan; hiking 1 day, nature park the 2nd and biking a 3rd day. The guides on all trips were excellent at keeping us safe and helping us in any way they could. Seriously, if you find yourself in this area of Sichuan please give them a call and get yourself on one of their adventures!!

Both Brian and Nathan did everything they could to make our stay at Northern Sichuan memorable. We did a 2 day hike trip to the peak of Mount Zhaga, and a day trip to Huanglong National Park.
Adventure Access staff went above and beyond our expectations, they not only were well prepared for the activities mentioned above but also recommend us great dining options and a tradition tibetan massage parlor.
I would recommend this agency to anyone who is considering a trip to Sichuan province.
