A drive through Karakoram will allow you to see endless variety of landscape, from snow capped mountains, to red mountains with their minerals, the Gez river and of course the famous Karakul lake. Beautiful view, not to be missed.

13899182327 Islamja is a great driver. He drives always carefully and will stop as many times as you need to take pictures enjoy the view or just stretch or go to the toilet!. We got his contact recommended by the international youth hostel recommendation in kashgar. We did the Karakoram highway all the way to Tashkurgan for a night,... More

We took this trip from Kashgar to Tashkurgan with Thirsty Camel Tours. Abdul was our guide and spoke excellent English, and has an excellent grasp of the local area history, customs, people and their way of life. We started early in the morning from Kashgar, and stopped for breakfast at Opal village, a small Uyghur ethnic town. Breakfast was Polo... More

best activities would be at kashgarh before proceeding to a very interesting tremendous laborious and painstacking exercise on a loooooooooong whirl type foggy full of mist and cloud with often occurance of landslides over here and there, road, to proceed further through a barren but explicitely beautiful roadway seemingly taking you to heaven or behest inshallah with quoranic ayats alhamdullilahi... As everyone describes the snowcapped mountains are very impressive. Travelling from Kashgar soon you see the giant mountains. The sky is very clear, the road is partly good, but many stretches are under construction what makes the trip enervating. They are making a broader highway for the touristic and commercial traffic they expect. The feeling of the old Silk Road is difficult to... Leaving Kashgar, you start to see the Himalayas after about 40 minutes and slowly you snake into the high snow mountains. You will be treated to majestic views. Why no 5 stars: an upgraded road is under construction. So loads of roadworks and backbreaking road conditions at the moment. Not the most pleasant driving for a strecth of more than... More

We booked the Kashgar-must "Karakoram Highway in two days" with Abdul Cafe. Email contact was professional and in great English. Abdul answered our questions patiently and thoroughly. Phone contact was even better. We booked the cheaper option with only a driver without guide. This is fine if you know "survival Chinese". Expect to be in a normal sedan for 5-7... More
