After some of the reviews we weren't sure about this place, but it's a great look at real Cartagena life outside of the walled city and we would totally recommend going. We went at 10am on a weekday and it was busy but not insane....More

The market was one of the many stops on a 4 hour tour I took. If you decide to go, I would not recommend going without the guidance of a local. It's huge, packed with people, hot, dirty, and smelly. Be sure to keep an...More

A glimpse inside how real people live outside the old city walls. We love markets so we're not going to miss this! Cheap fruit, lunch or clothes here. You can get anything really. Cheap prices and easy to get to in taxi from town

It's crowded and bustling but a thrill to get away from the tourists and see how real people in Cartagena live. The sheer amount of food blew us away. The music and rhythm are amazing. Wear closed shoes and just immerse yourself in the mayhem....More

It's a market serving local people in a developing country. Of course it's loud, dirty, chaotic and has things that you maybe have never seen before (a platter full of cows' eyes!). It's not scary. I didn't think it was dangerous. Go there and watch...More

Whereever we go, we are visiting a local market. That is where we see the real thing. Colorful, smelly, happy smiles and from fish and meat, to plastic toys, colombian footballshirts, fruits and vegetables. You can have your hair trimmed (men) , have a drink...More

Yes, we were there last month and used Cartagena Connections and they were fabulous. I would ask for Jan (John in German). We was excellent, knew all the nooks and crannies, what to eat, and spoke great english.
