Although not open this was a large museum that apparently covers the naval history of Cartagena. The building is impressive.

The Naval Museum is a nice place to spend an hour or so during the heat of a Cartagena afternoon. As others have mentioned the museum lacks signs in English, which would have enhanced the experience for me as I enjoy history. But I still enjoyed the displays, I found the models of the various forts and ships to be... More

Don't miss this very interesting naval history is Cartagena and is the carribean. Two floors of pictures, ship replicas, guns And history from the conquistadors to more current times. From a replica of a Spanish conquistador full of arrows to the battle between Spanish, French and Cartagena ships. Very good museum, but all information was in Spanish

Exhibits mostly in Spanish. Unfortunately, the customer service person was among the least helpful person we encountered in Cartagena. She had no change and had items in the display case which she would not sell. Despite that, the museum helped me understand much of the history of this wonderful walled city.

If you love models of old forts and can read spanish, this is your tour. A few old cannons outside and a very good ship model but not much else. Not even close as impressive as the museum on the turks islands.

First, you should know that guidebooks say admission is free. Technically, that is true. But a donation of $17 COP is required for entry. Few of the historical descriptions are in english, but if you know some Spanish you can understand much of the history. I was disappointed in the size of the first floor exhibits (I had been in... Cartagena has a rich history, full of conflicts, pirates and gold. The museum displays wll the history, although it could be more well curated, with better images and clearer panels. I recommend.

I went by myself to this place and hired a tour guide at the entrace of the museum, this place is very interesting since it shows all sort of militar ships designs from all over the world, they have old maps and old naval technology. The tour takes 1 or 2 hours if you are interested, this is must !... More

Hi, I visited the (oddly-named) Naval Museum of the Caribbean, which actually deals exclusively with the history of Cartagena and its region (i.e. not the Caribbean region as a whole). Set in a two-storey nicely renovated and very large old building, the exposition is very well done, with many diaporamas and pieces depicting the most famous battles, invasions, construction of...
