I loved my stay at the beautiful rooms in Rio Claro! probably have never slept that close to such a dense junge full of noise and animal sounds... really fascinating! The room hat moskito nets, so there was no problem with insects. Anyway, this is in the middle of nature - what else then animals would you expect? That was... More

we stayed two nights in the Refugio, last building. We loved our room with the open 'window'/ 'veranda'. Would have loved to see some monkeys but alas - none. You can close the 'curtains'. halfway the room and there is a good mosquito net. I'm allergic to mosquito bites but didn't get a single one. Food was good enough and... More

A beautiful ecological area surrounding the Rio Claro allowing walking, caving, kayaking, rafting or just relaxing by the river. There is also a zip slide down the valley but it wasnt in operation the day we visitted. Refreshments available from the restaurant/bar situated at the beginning of the activities and very reasonable prices. Need sneakers if youre walking as the... More

Rio Claro is a legitimate 3.5 hour drive from MDE. The road is OK but very winding and laced with fast and sometimes slow semi-truck traffic. It is not a relaxing drive. Awesome rafting with 5y/o son, Jorge the raft captain was a gentleman and insured an adventurous trip even though the rapids were level 1 or less...the marble canyon... More

This is a great place for birds, if you can put up with the accommodations. Our birding tour spent two nights here. The bird list is substantial, including many endemic species, and there is currently an active Oilbird cave. As the restaurant is open on the sides, we were able to spot interesting birds - toucans, hummingbirds, flycatchers, and others... More

If you feel adventurous and love nature this is a good option. There are eco-cabins that are simple but comfortable, which are immerse in the forest surrounding river Rio Claro. It is required certain level of fitness depending on the activities you choose. It is simple but nature reminded me Travel to the Center of Earth.

Stayed in an open-air room overlooking the river and was able to watch monkeys and Iguanas from the balcony. Truely amazing feeling to have marble canyon walls towering over you. Avoid going on the weekends as its much more peaceful and relaxing mid-week. I had no problems with making a reservation but I was told by a hostel owner that... More

I stayed here 3 nights and should have left immediately. I had to argue with them to get help with my bags. A 1.2 Km walk to my room which was dirty. The staff could care less about attending to you. Everything was an arguement. Birding was great but again, they know nothing. It is a water theme park with... More

To be honest, during my whole trip over Colombia the service of this place really sucks, i mean, you can find nice and helpful people in the majority places of Colombia, BUT THIS, is the WORST... i spend one week trying to get and answer for a reservation, also called several times to land line and cell phone but NO...
