Glimpse of the past
Jul 2019 • Friends
This is an important church because it represents architecture and style that was used 300 and more years ago. Visit during daytime and you should be safe. After dark is sketchy and I would not recommend walking around then.
Come here when visiting Plaza Botero.

Very beautiful

This church has a very beautiful white facade in front of the park.
Anyway, also the interior is very interesting with lot of things to see.
Very impressive the pipe organ made in German.

We stopped here for a few min during a walking tour. It’s in a pretty bad part of town so maybe don’t go here after dark

Not to be confused with Basilica Candelaria
Mar 2019 • Couples
While the Basilica Nuestra Senora Candelaria is the oldest Church in Medellin, this one is smaller and quite close to it, on Botero Plaza by his statues. They're both white, but this one has 3 window bells on its front facade, while the Basilica has two belfry towers.
Unfortunately, the easiest way to recognize it is by a shocking scene of prostitutes leaning on Iglesia's facade.
However, the Church is nice both, outside and inside if you neglect that scene.

Close to Heaven!
Feb 2019 • Friends
One of the treasures of Medellin. The Basilica offers a respite amid the bustle of the city. And one gets a glimpse of what the city must have looked like 300 hundred years ago.

Next to Plaza Botero
Jan 2019 • Solo
This church can be found a few blocks away from Plaza Botero therefore you must swing by and check out this church whilst in the area. It is a stunning little church with a lot of character and its pristine which exterior makes it very inviting. There is also a plaque nearby with information about the church.

Pretty little church
Sep 2018 • Couples
This is one of the older churches in the city. It’s small and quaint but very serene. We visited as part of a walking tour. Whilst it was nice to visit, it’s not someone I would make a special trip just to see.

Historical stop to talk about
Aug 2017 • Friends
This site is said, still have some things, besides the architecture, that have a couple hundred years ago, a must when students go for a walk in downtown to listen history in Spanish to improve listening, and talk about the first Medellin´s buildings; when it started as a city...

Historic church
Feb 2018 • Couples
The oldest remaining colonial style church in the city. It dates back to 1682. The façade was used as the template for many other churches of the era.
