We didn't get to see the church except from outside, and to see the bush Moses supposedly saw, we had to looked through a locked gate toward a wall 60 or 70 feet distant. Pretty disappointing.

I had my reservation going there at first, being a Muslim, however, when I read about what it had I got encouraged to go ... You may appreciate the building that was built in the 6th century ... and still standing ... you'll get to see some of the grass that was used as signs during the prophet Mousa time,... More

It is very exciting to visit back but with my kids this time, still in very good shape, the open tour in the monastery is smaller this time than the first time

Hired a chauffeured car for the trip on Saturday the 28th of January. A newer model car picked us up at 0600h for a more than 2.5h drive to the monastery. Although St. Catherine's is only 85km from Sharm the road takes a circuitous route to the destination. First north past Dahab and then east across the Sinai. Take your... More

The oldest working monastery in the world, St Catherine's monastery is located at the foot of mount St Catherine and Mount Sinai. You can visit the chapel at the monastery which is simply sublime with an unbelievably huge number of icons. Must visit the burning bush and Moses' well as well! Guided tours are available which I recommend highly to... More

This will take a short amount of time to see the monastery and best to do early in the morning before all the buses show up. The history of the monastery is interesting and well preserved, including the burning bush. A long way from Cairo, though, at least a 6 hour drive if the most direct route is open.

I was amazed at the beauty. Of the chandeliers inside the church. The postcards they sell were okay. I wish they had the chandeliers and the history of them on postcards. It was truly a peaceful place. I will visit again.

It's no only a monastery for a great saint but also It consists of the burning bush; the bush in which Moses saw the fire as It was on fire, but was not consumed by the flames. The monastery also has valuable icons and manuscripts from bible since the first centuries.
