I am not sure what to say. This is not a tourist attraction. One good thing is that they let people go on their land and the area is beautiful.

This mosque sits in the middle of no where, near Plaza Blanca. Not much to see or do. We didn't even see any people.

Strange to find a mosque here but the history is even stranger. An enormous amount of Saudi money poured in here a few decades ago. A well known Egyptian architect designed interlocking dome structure for the school without considering the New Mexico weather. An eventual collapse of the roof (due to ice forming and thawing in the joints of the... More

Did a lot of hiking in NM and it was all great. But this was a different planet with very few visitors. Wear sturdy shoes and a hat don't forget to carry water

You can drive back here...be sure to get directions...and it is a different world...best rock formations we found in all of new mexico..and secluded. God bless the owners for allowing visitors to this incredibly beautiful area.

Had to ask for directions and it is a long winding up hill drive on gravel and rocks, but so worth it to see the beautiful Mosque in the high Abiquiu desert and the view is spectacular.

No one was around to welcome us or provide any information. We wandered around and left. Dar al Islam is very close to Plaza Blanca.

Two special sites on this visit. The narrow sandy and rocky road will lead you straight to the site of the Muslim community and their lovely mosque. Groups can arrange a tour. I think that would be very informative and enjoyable. Look for the "office" to the right of the parking lot for general directions. I found a warm welcome... More

We received directions that underestimated the length of the road to the turnoff at the gates (really about 3 miles). It's a gentle, easy hike even for someone with a problematic knee. Wildflowers bloomed all around us, little lizards zipped by, and birds coasted silently overhead. Totally peaceful.

Small, isolated, quietly beautiful...near the Plaza Blanca and worth a stop if you are in the area. Built by the Saudis, the mosque today is used for various programs...but all the features (including lovely tile work and the foot baths) of a larger building are here.
