He asked how many children and their ages advised me on needing life jackets,he said I could meet the park ranger at this building down the road and be fitted for jackets for all of us. They were free of charge we just... More

Most people come here to swim and hike in summer, all excellent, but for (landscape) photographers, try winter. The place is deserted. Will attach some.

Amidst the vistas painted by Georgia O'Keefe, there is a man made body of water that sparkles blue against the red cliffs. Lake Abiquiu is a splendid oasis in the arid parched landscape. After visiting and hiking some natural wonders northwest of Santa Fe, We dipped Our bare feet into the cool waters of this lake. It was a wonderful... More

This is one of our favorite lakes to kayak in New Mexico. The water is clean and there are lots of areas to explore. This lake does have fast-moving boat traffic, so it is necessary to be aware of boats around you. The launch is easy to use and boaters are generally courteous.

We enjoyed our walk around the visitor center (it was closed, however), and tried to get some good photos of the cliffs.

This is a reservoir, and as an easterner somehow doesn't appeal. The dam is a large dike (pile of earth), so nothing to show the engineering. We ended up just driving by.

We have been at the lake many times and usually admire it from the park bench, eat a picnic lunch, or just take photos. This is a picturesque lake in all seasons. There is a small campground, but we have not stayed there. It is not far from Ghost Ranch, so check it out if you need a place to... More

This was in the middle of nowehere and you come down from the high plains to a very pretty lake (although not with a great deal of water) and very pretty countryside. There were good viewing and picnic facilities around the lake.
