One of the numerous step-wells, dotting the city, Dada Harir Ni Vaav aka Rani Ni Vaav, is the deepest one. Some 9 floors underground, it is full of beautifully carved walls and columns. It also has a mosque in the complex which is also decorated with typical Amedavadi carving. Simple beautiful.

It's located in the very interiors of Ahmedabad and chances are you will miss it unless you have an eye for such places. The architecture is amazing and it is very old. There wasn't in the vav when we visited. Overall the place is in shambles though it is classified as a monument of historical importance by the Government. Do... More

Dada Hari Ni Vav was under a little bit of construction at street level, but once you walk under the scaffolding, it is a beautiful step well to explore within the city limits. The caretaker of the connected mosque is incredibly friendly despite speaking on English and will direct you up a narrow staircase to view the city from the... More

Dada Harir Ni Vav is a less known but equally beautiful step well and is often less filled with visitors. but it has been so poorly maintained. many of the places stink. It actually would have been very beautiful had it been maintained. But considering that its a national treasure and heritage, the way its been kept, it hurts !
