I imagined the era when Gandhiji would have stayed here...trying to visualized how the Mahatma would have walked around in the ashram. The ashram also houses a small museum depicting some important life history of Mahatma Gandhi. A good day out overall.

It is memorable to see Sabarmati Ashram where Gandhiji initiated his freedom fight along with Kasturba Gandhi. Vinobhaji joined him later it seems. This is one of the historical one and a must visit place for all ages. Memorable collection of photographs. We have seen Gandhiji's meeting room, followed by his living room, Kitchen in the home. It was here Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi became the Mahatma. It is indeed a spiritual experience to visit Sabarmati Ashram. Gandhiji lived here for 12 years, guided the freedom struggle from here and in 1930 started his famous Dandi March here and vowed to never come back till the country gained independence. The quarters, very simple and an example... More

We came here to see Mahatma Gandhi's home and the museum they have around it-- such a beautiful tribute to Gandhiji. I especially love the huge quote "My life is my message" in English, Gujarati, and Hindi on the wall on the museum side. It's really a lovely and peaceful ashram- a must visit for anyone coming to Ahmedabad.

Sabarmati Ashram has historic importance for Indians as the place was the abode of Mahatmaji for some time. The once secluded ashram has now been enveloped by the growing metro. However within the complex, the serenity can still be found. The abodes of Mahatma, Kasturba ji are still preserved. While the place is popular with tourists, it would be great... More

Decent place to visit. Entry is free so sometimes the crowd is not good. There are different old rooms which were used by Gandhiji and his family/party. Apart from this there are old paintings, utensils with some history attached which you can see.
