I visited to Manali during May17 to May19 -2017. Permit is already full for next 3 days from current date. Taxi without permits are allowed till Gulaba. At Gulaba there beautiful mountains with snow. Beyond Gulaba it open only after 15th May. Before that Tourist are allowed only till Gulaba. you can check online if Rohtang is open by applying for permit. This snow clad land connecting Rohtang to Leh-Ladakh is situated at an altitude of 13,050 feet above the sea-level which justifies absence of any other visible forms of life there. Wow Wow. This place is at a high altitude. the people of manali like taxi driver etc are thugs. They have fixed commission from other shops like if you are going to rohtang pass it's mandatory to wear snow track suit whose rent is 250 for one suit, but they will ask you that you are coming here and do the ski, of course we want to ski but... The loopy climbs from Manali will take you to Rohtang. Enroute there would be one or two location which would definitely give you a good background with the passes Rotang for a click. High Altitude passes always attracts me, Rohtang was really adventures, Small Road makes it more difficult to drive , I was on a Royal Enfield 350cc And it’s really amazing to ride through the pass , Compared to khardungla pass (Leh) it is more difficult and adventures, It’s a heaven for motorbike riders.
