- Vinay MPune, India156 contributionsBeautiful & Serene Nigeen LakeNigeen lake is really beautiful! Being away from the hustle bustle of the city, it’s quite clean and peaceful. We stayed in a houseboat on Nigeen lake and it was a wonderful experience. While Dal lake has its own charm, visit to serene Nigeen lake is definitely worth while in Srinagar.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 April 2024

According to other reviews, nigeen lake is much cleaner than dal, it is very clean and the surrounding scenery is just beautiful, especially when the sun is out. I believe the houseboats on nigeen cost more as well. But worth it.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 2 August 2024

Stayed here on this lake. The view from the lake is absolutely mesmerising and I was lucky to see my life’s first snowfall and the iced lake. Surrounded by mountains shaped like oval. This lake is worth a try. Staying on lake gives you all together a different experience.

As all other tourists and travelers, we wanted to experience the stay in a house boat. On researching more about this, got to know that dal lake is really crowded and it would be a better choice to stay here at Nigeen Lake. And I would say, we did not regret this decision of ours. We had a peaceful and calm stay at Nigeen Lake. I would say this is one of the best sunset points. Highly recommend over Dal lake.

An extension of the Great Dal lake, but not as crowded as it's parent. So, worth staying here for a quiet but beautiful experience of the lake and the surroundings along with houseboat. One can take a Shikara ride to roam around this lake or even visit Dal lake, but that will take longer time. So, better to visit the Dal lake separately as time permits.

Very calm and serene as compared to the hustle bustle of Dal Lake. Picturesque. Good mountain views. A late evening shikara ride takes you through the Lotus park, Vegetable parks and into Meena bazar. Mr Abid ensured we had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 hr time.

Smaller than the main Dal lake but better for it. A lot less houseboats filling the banks and wide enough for privacy on a houseboat if you stay here. Plus the possibility of sunset views if you choose the side facing the fort.

Can anyone give me any idea about the rents of house boats?
does the deal includes breakfast and dinner? or only rooms?
Written 30 May 2018
You can book houseboats for as low as 2000 per night for a double room to 20k per night... Breakfast and Dinner inclusive packages will cost higher... Try to book a houseboat as per your budget which has access by road otherwise you will have to shell out Rs. 300 to 500 each time you want to go to and from the houseboat..

Which is mote safe to stay in srinagar houseboat or hotel.
Which houseboat should be book I mean how many categories of boat and which is best? And which is better lake either dal or nagin?

I prefered Nigeen lake.
Mount View house boat run by Ayub Shah was perfect for me as it is in a nice location. Perfect service as well. Choose a houseboat as you can go to a hotel anywhere.

Hi Tuhina,
I wanted to ask a little about Nigeen Lake.
1) Is it really cold in houseboats, since we are travelling in Feb, 2018.
2) Is it safe to stay there, since it is some where in secluded area?
Written 13 January 2018
1. not at all --- you can very well enjoy the stay in houseboats
2. it is pacca safe to stay-- people are very cooperative and they will guide you according to your taste .though it is little interior you can relish the beauty and calm atmosphere of Kashmir well
