Aihole Karnataka -: ( 7th C.E. group of monuments) 25 Km from Badami these masterly sculptured temples, illustrate the full spectrum of ancient philosophical icons & narrative traditions. The deep decorative carvings on the walls & ceilings depict talents & taste of eternal Indian heritage.

Very different in feel from thoses at Pattadaikal , which are already on the protected monument list. These are still within a rather dusty village and individually not as impressive though well worth the detour

Combined it with a visit to Badami and Pattadakal. Nice museum. Has good info about temple styles. Wish they had a book about it.

One cannot end up visiting all the temples in Aihole, but there are so many that you wont like to miss...the main temple complex is also very nice!

This is a group of temples , of Siva and Surya Narayan. Architecture is awesome and great place to visit in winter. Make sure to have an umbrella if visited during noon.
