A spontaneous decision to follow a diversion suggested by Miss GPS led us to Casa Abril. The winery is no less than a desert oasis disguised in a new production facility. We arrived via a dusty road, parked in front of grape vines and walked through the door into another world. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Raymond Vigil, fresh infrom... More

Very good wines, excellent diversion. Friendly, knowledgeable service. It's obvious they take pride in their product. Highly recommended.

The winery was located just off the Budaghers exit going towards Santa Fe. They served only red's but all were very flavorful. My wife typically likes white wine. However there was nothing she tasted that she did not enjoy. The owner took the time to show us his winemaking operation and even gave the kids water to drink so they... More

I'm a little reluctant to write about this wonderful winery as it's a treasure I'd sort of like to keep to myself. But that wouldn't be fair to the proprietors, so here goes! If you're looking for a beautiful setting and fancy winery and tasting room, Casa Abril isn't for you. But if you're looking for fabulous wines, and friendly... More

What a pleasant surprise on the road between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Fantastic wine with amazing vistas of the valley and mountains. The owners are charming and informative. They have a passion for the history and culture of wine making.

We stopped by the vineyard during our recent trip to Santa Fe. Due to our poor planning, we decided to visit when the tasting room was closed. We ran into the owner (Raymond Vigil) working in the vineyard. We stopped and talked with him for a bit. He is so nice and welcoming that we came back the next day... More

We stopped here on our way out of Santa Fe and to ABQ. The owner (Raymond) was friendly and informative. His family's wine was really lovely. Each wine had a story and our tasting lasted over an hour. The tasting cost $9/person for 9 wines (each pour was about 2 oz) and included almonds and chocolate. I have a natural... More

Like other reviewers, we were traveling the Santa Fe to Albuquerque route and trying to follow the wine trail from our guide book. This is a very unpretenious operation with the exception of the wines. The different approach that I applaud was a choice of $9 for the tastings or buying a nice glass of wine and enjoying it. Either... More

We were on our way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and about midway, just off the freeway, is Casa Abril winery. We were interested in the tempranillo and other Spanish varietals they specialize in, and we were not disappointed. Driving up, we noticed someone on a tractor among the vines, and that someone turned out to be Raymond Vigil, the... More
