amazing piece of engineering!

Built by the British in the 1920s this was/is an incredible work on a huge scale linking Cochin city with the other side of town. Initially built as a defense.

Amazing reclaimed island. We stayed on one of the two hotels on the Island. The best way to travel was by the ferry. Well worth a try and only 4 rupees each.

Willingdon Island is a 5 minute ferry ride from the jetty at Fort Cochin. There is not a huge amount to do there other than potter around enjoying the flowers in the gardens and the sea views. We visited the Taj property for a hugely expensive coffee but it was lovely to sit and look out to sea and enjoy... More

The local ferry is very cheap, but packed. You can hire a private ferry to take a group across. Takes about an hour to get to Kochi beach.

Willingdon Island is the largest man made island in India, filling it with dredged soil in 1936. It is the home of the best hotels e.g. Taj Malabar hotel, the Port of Kochi, the Customs House & the Kochi Naval base of the Indian Navy. It is linked to the mainland by road, which looks scruffy & uncared for. You... More

Beautiful scenic little island, it's not far from the Jewish town and other must see sights in Kerala. Part of the corniche is not accessible to lay people without permission, so don't venture off too far by yourself. Tour guides are available but make sure you negotiate rates in advance. Have some lovely sliced fresh fruit in jars and drink... More

A man made with mainly industrial use. But it also houses Taj Malabar. You can have beautiful views of the sea and watch beautiful sunset.
