We did the 3 hour morning hike called Nature walk and loved it. We saw elephants from close quarters in their natural habitat and many birds and wild indian guar (bison). We wish we knew about the multi-day hiking and camping options in the tiger reserve before hand. We would have stayed longer at Thekkady just to explore this beautiful... More

The place is must visit as it gives so much infirmation about flora fauna and animals. My 7years old son thoroughly enjoyed the PRT trip.however you have limited scope of trekking, bamboo rafting, night safari etc fir below 12 years. You must buy souvenirs for the shop inside which contributes towards saving our TIGERS.

Periyar tiger reserve is huge and beautiful! We were lucky to see plenty of animals in our nature walk.(nilgiri mokneys, malabar squirrels, gaur, a family of elephants feeding quaintly behind the bushes, wild boar and deers and 15-20 bird species. Tiger sighting is incredibly rare and we werent lucky enough. Our forest giude was very knowledgeable and polite. The kerala govenrment offers nature... More

I chose Bamboo Rafting. I was not aware that it will include a long hiking of 1-2 hours. It was scary for me since it was in jungle and our mobile signal were lost since it was jungle and I am not so brave. In our way, the guards asked us to keep quite. I was too afraid but then... More

Our trip to Periyar Tiger Reserve gave us the opportunity to see a family of elephants close enough that the mother felt the need to protect her baby! A stomp in the dirt and she started running! Our guide yelled RUN and we booked it to safety. My Mets hat was a casualty. I here one of the guides was... More

We did the border hike and it was ok. No animal spotting except for boars, deers and monkeys. Not sure if ever anyone sees much more, as it is not really wild. You can hear motor noises in large parts where we went. We were a group of six with two guards and a third gunman.

The border hike (along the Tamil Nadu< > Kerala border) is nearly a 20Km hike with some parts being uphill and steep. Technically, you could use the entire day to do the hike or you could accomplish it faster depending on the average speed of the group. The hike is beautiful and you have higher chances of viewing some of... More

We went on a two and a half hour "green walk" with a guide, who could take up to four people. We walked about three miles, as he showed us various trees and plants, and then we were lucky to see a herd of elephants. We happily took photos and watched them for an hour before heading back. There are... More

I think it's better just to enjoy the walk in this amazing forest, if... More
