In monsoon the western ghats in Lonavala/Kandala gives a breath taking experience.. The smog on the hill top blinds one's vision a little. The mountain range is green and very pleasant to view

Close to Pune you can drive up and start walking in the hills/ treks. I would recommend treks to Visapur Fort . Took us 2.5 hours from base point up to the fort. Or try Lohagad fort or Sinhagad. There are many more to choose...More
