Today many of us don't know who is Pathani Samanta. Let me tell you- He is a great Indian astrologer who measured the distance from earth with a bamboo pipe and many other traditional instruments made by him. This Planetarium situated in Acharyavihar is the place where you can review all his achievements. Also you can see many astrological things.... More

Easily accessible and preferably go with kids which makes them learn many thing about our solar system.Presentation seems to be little boring for adult and needs to be improvise in presentation. It's one of the planetarium among six planetarium of India.

I went to this place with a couple of friends with huge expectations and I was badly disappointed. The show was quite boring. One of my friends fell asleep during the show and the other plugged in his earphones to listen to the music. I am a guy interested in astronomy and this place did nothing to fuel my interests.... India has more than 4 planetariums. Mumbai's Nehru planetarium is India's best planetarium. Goa, Jaipur and Kolkata are other places where you can find rest of the Planetarium. Bhubaneswar's planetarium is in a good condition, but the shows are so boring that it made me sleep. The information and presentation is so boring that you will fall asleep. First 10... More

I remember school trips to the planetarium when I was a kid. Over the years, the place has lost is charm with the residents. they have not updated themselves and people get to learn more about the universe online than in a planetarium. They hold some 3D shows and those are popular for the locas.

The planetarium is conveniently located by public transport on the Acharya vihar cross roads. Check the timings. They have shows in Hindi and English only in the afternoons. English show is at 1600 hours.
