What was lacking in display and objects - these wee all the family heirlooms gathered by the owner was made up for by the articulate and passionate talk delivered by the owners son. Came a way feeling I understood a little more about the place and the various cultures that lived around Jaisalmer

Best way to take the tour of this small yet interesting museum is with the guidance of Mr.Hemant, the museum care taker. I was pleasantly surprised when in the middle of explaining various collectibles, he sang a Rajastani folk song which still rings in my memory. Over all an interesting experience. P>S I lost my bag in the museum and... More

This museum is managed by Mr. N. K. Sharma, the same person who also manages Desert Cultural Center. Entry fees is just 10 Rs. Photography is free inside. You can also cover Gadisar Lake and Desert Cultural Center on the same day. There is also a place where you can have the best view of Jaisalmer Fort and sunset.

We popped in on our way back to town having visited Gadisar Lake. The curator warmly welcomed us and introduced us to the exhibits. The exhibits are well presented and the accompanying information is written in excellent English, covering a good number of interesting local topics from textile making, local geology, and local history. Certainly worth having a wander round... More
