The pykara falls was a big let down. there was no water due to lack of rainfall. But the pykara lake was a big hit. The boating experience is amazing. try to reach the place early maybe within 10 in the morning. Coz afterwards there is a lot of rush for tourists. Its an hour drive from Ooty. The restaurant... Lake is really nicely surrounded by natural beauty. Clean water. Well managed boat house. But unless you do boating, you will not be allowed to go near the water. The waterfall is not so good. Not even well managed....I will say not worth to go to the fall if running short of the time. Here also one will not be... More

There was barely any water in Pykara. Once we got down from our vehicle one of the shopkeeper told it's not worth walking for another kilometer. Though we didn't listen to her and took a Golfcart, available at 5/- per person. Once we reached there no one was going near the falls since there is no water. So not right... More

Its a wonderful place to visit especially during the rainy season as there will be plenty of water to see and enjoy. The boat ride in the lake is good but during peak seasons we have wait a quite long time to get the tickets and hop on the boat. The falls is almost a kilometer walk from the main... More

We went to both. Both are nice. If there is one place you would visit, we suggest Pykara Falls. Here is why. Its dry season, and the water level at the Lake was probably 5-10 feet below its high water mark. But boating was on at full swing. What that meant was crowds and garbage. It was not terrible, but... This is one of the most beautiful places near ooty. The Ooty lake is over hyped and people are lesser in pykara. The water is clean and the speed boat costs 750 for 3 but it is an amazing experience. We went in a long weekend so had to wait around 40-45 min before we can go for boating but... More
