I have reached this place during a trip from Varanasi. Very quite & calm place. Especially the Dhameka stupa is a beautiful place. Also there is a Peepal tree of Buddha age as told by local Guide under which Buddha gives sermon. After getting bodhi Buddha came here in search of his five disciples. There is a mahabodhi temple. Also... More

You should reserve atleast a day for sarnath if you are on a visit in varanasi. There are so many things in sarnath. Dhammek stupa is one of the most precious attraction here, around which also lies the remains of Buddhist vihara where Buddhist use to preach and meditate. This place is famous because Lord Buddha gave his first sermon... More

It was a good feeling that I was walking where the Buddha walked. But other than that I wouldn't recommend the trouble it takes getting there, the tourists, the cost, the... More

A very short drive from Varanasi, this is where Buddha gave his first sermon to his disciples. Tranquil setting with interesting stupa and ruins to view.

Hey folks, I was really lucky to visit this place, here the Lord Budhha obtained salvation. Its 12 kms away from the Varanasi railway station. Commutation is not a problem as the auto-rickshaws will charge you 400-600 for to and fro commuting. The Sarnath area has multiple spots staring from Wat Thai temple, Dhameka stupa to mulagandhakuti vihara, where the... More
