As the title goes, I would consider this, one the best places that you could ever be in West Bengal. Compared to other West Bengal tourist destinations like Digha and Bishnupur, which are generally depicted to be ill maintained, conjusted and dirty, this is a place which is different. We stayed at the Govt. Tourist Lodge which was surprisingly clean... More

Very nice destination to spend one or two days. There are many hotels. But there are not enough ATM at the point. So travelers have to bring adequate cash with them.

This is a good sea beach, unspoiled by tourists. About 130 kms from Kolkata and it takes @ 4-5 hrs by car as there is a ferry over a small creek where you might have to wait in queue for about 1-2 hrs.A bridge is under construction but may take years before it is open. The roads are good but crowded. The... More

The beach is okayish...beware of the underlying treeholes and loose soil (chorabali). Not suitable for sea bathing. Take care of kids while walking on the beach. Must visit Frazergunj beach, Henry's island and Benfish fishing harbour, esp in the early morning when the troller's arrive and the auction starts. Driving condition from Kolkata is average, traffic is high compared to... More

The sea beach of bakkhali is saucer shaped. On days of full moon and ama vasya the tide recedes in morning but comes back very quickly. If somebody ventures deep... Then it is asking for trouble.. So watch out for the warning boards and the local people... The beach is very clean...enjoy the evening with some fresh fish fries... Travel... More

We went on 25th December. Never do it on this date or else you will spend three-fourths of your day on the road. We started at six in the morning but reached at 4pm. There was heavy traffic all the way. But Bakkhali is an ideal weekend getaway. Lots of greenery all around and clean metalled roads leading up to... More

We went there by Train, boarding the Namkhana Local around 7:15am from Sealdah. The train took almost 3 hours. Following the train ride, the journey gets a little less straightforward. Outside the station you need to board a Toto (a bigger, more exposed version of an Auto). This Toto will take you to the ferry Ghats. There you would need... More

I visited the beach of Bakkhali few months ago. Its a lovely beach. secluded and much different than the crowded beaches of West Bengal. There are many hotels near the main beach. You can seat and spend time on the beach with your friends and family, it provides a calm and serene ambiance. Food is a little expensive compared to... More
