Average beach, certainly not the best in Bali
Kuta Beach was one of the nicest beaches in the past, but anno 2020 it is really not more than an average beach. Where the sunset is beautiful to watch here, the beach is packed with plastic, every 2 minutes or so you will get bothered by a salesman, which can be really annoying, the sea/ocean is very rough so you can forget a relax swim. Every 10 seconds there are medium high waves coming your way. There are a lot of better alternatives for this beach in Bali.

    Kuta Beach - Bali
Kuta Beach is very hectic. I used to have a long stroll here. Nice for people watching. It is crowded with tourists, there are those who just want to sit and drink all day long. I did find the beach was relatively clean, there were people enjoying the surf or just messing around in the water. I preferred to walk and go to another more quieter part of beach near our hotel. It is another good beach to watch the sunset.

    Much better than expected
Pleasant surprise! Golden sand, very clean, the waves are not too high, so you can actually swim in between the big waves, but also high enough for beginners in surfing. Sunbeds are available, but you need to pay by hour (unlike Canggu, where the same amount of money would reserve you a sunbed for a whole day). The most disturbing thing though was that there are too many people trying to sell you something, it was really annoying sometimes.

Visiting same time of the year as on previous visits here and found, on this occasion, slightly cooler, less humid and more pleasant overall.
Streets and beaches are noticeably cleaner than we remember. Made for pleasant swimming this time.

We were surprised to find the beach area very clean, no flotsam from the ocean. Great boardwalk for easy access and walking. Warungs and stall holders to the rear, chairs, deck chairs and umbrellas to the front and also some encroachment from stall holders. The vibe from the streets and the art market has been transferred to the beach area. Worth the morning stroll and an evening visit to see spectacular sunsets. Jalan Pantai at the rear, clogged with vehicles and motor bikes, virtually a total disregard for pedestrians with vehicles parked haphazardly other than where the hotels employ security personnel.

The beach was across the street from our hotel. There are a lot of stalls and food stand on the beach and they offer your chairs in exchange of buying their food and drinks.
The thing that we didn't like was that there were stray dogs on the beach

Let's face it, Kuta Beach has seen better days. The sand is mostly grey, there's trash everywhere and it's packed most of the time. But one thing every visitor should do once is see a Kuta sunset. Simply stunning and just for a moment, it's hard to tell what color the sand is.

Note that there is some variation in sunset times, despite Bali being near the equator. The earliest sunset is in early June (just after 6pm) and the latest at the end of January (around 6:45pm).

This is a pretty busy beach with lots of stalls and vendors. Lots of hustling.
If you want to surf, this is a good spot. There are surf schools, but you can also just take a quick lesson from one of the guys on the beach. The lesson will be basic, and some of the guys' English is minimal. It's cheap and you can get a taste for the sport. Enjoy

From afar Kuta Beach looks gorgeous, however, when we decided to walk on the beach we noticed it's really dirty. Very littered and overly crowded. It's definitely a tourist spot and if you want to swim and surf and don't mind litter, go for it. It wasn't what I had in mind for Beach vibes.

It is a very clean beach - the reason primarily can be not a lot of people are seen other than a Sunday. There are no restaurants here on the beach. You can have a quick swim or go for a surfing.

A lot more activity on the beach since we visited last August, seems that all the stall holders from the Kuta Art Markets have relocated here. Everyone seems to have an allocated area and their is fierce competition for custom. Clean beach area, rock pitching to minimise further erosion, good footpath to enjoy a stroll. One thing hasn't changed; beware the invitation to sit on a chair.

The beach was centrally located and surrounded by many hotels, restaurants, shopping malls. It was, however, occupied by dishonest vendors and rubbish. Such a big disappointment!
