Temple was closed when we went. The area around the temple was open. You can take photos in front of the temple gate. Not too crowded

Definitely worth visiting! Locals are friendly and are keen for a conversation with tourists. Just watch out on roads around, it's really crazy with traffic over there and really easy to run under a car or a scooter.

The temple is closed now. You can only walk around the lotus pool and take some good photos. It's a good place to escape from the humid weather and enjoy some shades and breeze though. There is a Starbucks by the entrance if you wish to rest.

A beautiful small pond situated behind Starbucks in Jl. Raya Ubud. Worth for a short visit - don't missed it.

Literally I’m not sure about the religious meaning of this temple. The front square is considered to be a performance site. You need to visit it when you go through ubud.

This is one of those “blink and you’ll miss it” temples, not too far down the street from the Puri Saren Palace. Much like the Royal Palace, if you didn’t know it was there, you would easily walk right on by, which is strange seeing as Saraswati feels three times taller that the Royal Palace and has its entrance flanked by gorgeous lotus ponds.
While Saraswati might not offer the most things to see, bar its entrance gate and the lotus ponds, they are such a striking, serene image that it’s no wonder they offer a service on wedding photos there. As far as a tourist spot goes, it’s a very brief stop but a beautiful one at that. There’s something about a good water feature that just calms the soul. If you’ve got five minutes and want a beautiful photo, Saraswati is where it’s at.

A lovely Hindu temple located right in the centre of Ubud. The entry is free and there are lots of beautiful gates, which present many photo opportunities. It has a Lotus pond too, which if you're able to catch it at the right time of year, would be amazing to photograph.

this is the only temple that has free entrance. someone outside of the gate trying to sell ticket, do not buy it. We almost made the mistake paying for the tickets.

Hello. I'm trying to get idea of if there is anything at back of temple to see or if the temple itself (which I assume is large building everyone photographs) is the main area to visit. Also, is the temple itself ever open to foreign visitors with proper dress? And does the performance in the evening go on in December and if so, is it likely to be impacted by rain?

Hi Roothy 123, I was there in December last year and the weather was perfect. It sometimes rain but usually at night. There's a lot of performances everywhere in and around Ubud, so you probably just need to see what's on at the time you're there.
I believe what you see from the Café Lotus, is the main part of the temple. It says somewhere you need a sarong etc to visit, but so far I haven't seen anyone wearing it to visit the ground. I also read there are guided tours, so maybe that could be an option for you. Some temples lend you sarongs during the visit. Don't know if Saraswati Temple does...
How long does it take to go around the temple?

The temple itself is not big. But if you want to take pictures, especially at the weekends, you might need an hour to capture some interesting spot around. To enjoy the view of this temple, I highly recommend you to take a good spot seat in Lotus Restaurant, which on the same location with the temple.

Hi, Janine. What would you like to know about this attraction? Do you get to keep the sarong or do you just use it? I'm going in August. Thank you, Janine

it seems you can't go inside the temple. but the outside view over the pond was splendid. and you don't need the sarong to go around outside.

This place is very convenient to access for any people. This is just beside the main road, your car can drop you on gate. No ticket needed to enter.
You have Lotus café and Starbucks on the Sawaswati Temple gate, so you can have a rest during your trip to Ubud.
