Saw Barong and Legong Balinese dance in the evening at Ubud Palace. Nice, lyrical and colourful performances. Reach early to guarantee a vantage view point for the performance

Interesting be repetitive
Feb 2020
My husband and I had read about the importance of seeing traditional Balinese dancing while in Ubud, so we made sure to catch a performance. We chose the daily performance at the Ubud Palace, as you could easily buy tickets that day from a ticket seller sitting at the entrance.

We arrived half an hour before the start time, as suggested. This is a good tip, because we had our choice of seats but those arriving even a few minutes later did not. Also, bring bug repellant (wish we had!).

We found the show interesting, but each segment was VERY long and when a new performance started, it seemed very similar to the previous. We actually got bored so left early.

When you depart, there will be many taxi drivers holding "taxi" signs. We hired one of these to take us back to our hotel.

I know this is a "must do" while in Bali, but our chose was not very exciting. Maybe another location is better? Good luck to you!

Beautiful, colorful dance.

Loved the dance, the outfit and the ritual! It is a beautiful performance with lots of cultural / historical aspects. Really worth it! Go early (like, one hour before show starts) to guarantee a good spot.

Must to see performance in Ubud
Jan 2020 • Couples
We went to see Legong and Barong dance, which goes every day at 19:30 and lasts 1 hour 30 minutes. The ticket price is 100 000 IDR. This is a really exciting performance, but I recommend to google the story since it's mostly dance, music, and narrative in Balinese. It's also a good idea to come a bit earlier to get the best seats.

Cultural Experience
Oct 2019 • Friends
Visited here with my friends as we saw them selling tickets outside the palace.
The show itself was very well put together, the outfits and performance was amazing as were the musicians that played their traditional instruments.
Sadly there was hardly anybody there but us and a few other groups. However, it’s nice that there are still these shows to keep their culture and tradition alive.

It was a great show, don't miss it. Also fantastic time in Bali thanks to our guide ARSANA (instagram arsanabalidriver)
Dec 2019
We met Arsana when we were picked up by him at Denpasar airport.
We immediately had a click with him, not in the last place because he spoke English very well and we felt very safe when he drove us around in the traffic he called “organized chaos”.

In the 17 days that we were in Bali, he showed us the island in six days as only a Balinese can.
On those days we had lunch with him, among other things, at the most beautiful locations that he picked out for us every time. We were just as enthusiastic about Bali as about our guide Arsana and all the places he showed us.
Thanks to him we have been able to take very beautiful photos for which we were given the opportunity of Arsana every time. An unforgettable memory of our journey.
I have already given his name three times in the Netherlands since we returned on December 18, 2019 - to family who are also going to Bali - to have an experience just as beautiful as we had.
Thank you Arsana,

Jan 2020 • Couples
Culture by the cup full, Very talented troupe of Dancers & musicians, hypnotic music & bright costumes, great stories!
I would definitely recommend seeing this at least once when you visit Ubud, usually starts around 7.30pm you’ll want to get there early to grab a front row seat as it is a case of sit where you can find a seat.
