We had a great time as a family, welcomed by the chef (who speaks English very well) and his wife.
Friendly atmosphere.
Very interesting cooking class after a walk to the market to discover the products available.
We then tasted what we had prepared… very tasty.
Great experience!!!!

We thank Nyoman for being such a nice host and introducing us to the Balinese style of cooking. We took the class at the afternoon (without a trip to the market), and we spent three entertaining hours on cooking and a dinner. For sure, we will recommend the cooking class to friends visiting Bali. 🙂

Been travelling for months and this was handsdown one of the best experiences of my entire trip.
I spoke to the guide before coming and he was really understanding when we had to change the dates and times twice, and regarding our budget.
He picked us up promptly, and spoke to us in fluent English on the drive to the coffee plantation - teaching us some facts and making recommendations for places to visit etc. It ended up being just me and my friend so it was like our own private tour.. The coffee plantation itself was fab! 12 free tasters and some history of how the different coffee is made and health benefits of the teas.
Then we went into our guides family compound (I didn't know the Balinese lived in compounds with seperate houses for different families) where the cooking class was taking place. The cockerels strutting around and guides family living their day to day life gave us a glimpse into everyday bali life, which we would not have got if we'd gone to the other classes!
We worked alongside the guide and his brother to create SIX different dishes, including a starter (soup) and dessert (banana fritters) and the flavours, colours and smells of each were astonishing. The guide took photo's of us throughout and also talked us through the recipes in detail whilst telling us other facts about balinese cuisine and culture, as well as hinduism.
When we left, he promptly emailed us the photos and recipes so we can recreate these dishes at home! So impressed with how they deal with our dietary requirements as well!
5 star all the way and if you get the chance to do the cooking class, or any other class, with this family run business then jump at it!

We loved this cooking class, extremely inspiring in the home of Nyoman. The place is perfect and we cooked 6 dishes within 2 hours. 2 different satays, fish and tuna, soup, vegetables, fried tofu, tuna in banana leaves and fried bananas. Extremely delicious in a very quiet and typical balinese atmosphere. If you love cooking it's a must. Nyoman is the perfect teacher, you can ask anyything he has the answer!

We used Ubud Bali Activities a couple of times on our trip and loved it. Not only is Nyomen a fantastic tour guide, he is also a very kind and helpful man who welcomed us into his family home for food, and transported us around the area. The tours we did were well organised and great value for money. We went to the coffee plantations, rice fields, and did the mount Batur trek with Nyomen and can't fault a thing. Would highly recommend to anyone considering where to start looking for a tour or two

What a delightful experience. Cooking in the home of a local and enjoying the tastes and smells of the wonderful food created with Nyoman in his home kitchen. If you want an authentic experience don’t miss this tour. I did an aftnoon class so did not get to the shop in the market. I would suggest the morning tour if you want to visit the market.

Many thanks to Noman and his family for a wonderful experience. Great to walk around the local market and see the produce that we'd be cooking with. We then spent a few hours preparing and cooking all of the dishes from the basic ingredients, which was both informative and fun. The best part was at the end where we got to eat and enjoy what we'd cooked. Top class experience and one I'd highly recommend for foodies.

What a fantastic day! Can not recommend this tour and our amazing guide Nyoman enough. We are a family of three that includes a 14 year old and right from the start Nyoman’s friendly personality shown as he took great care to make sure our helmets, water and bikes were sorted for us. We were then taken through back villages and had the privilege of seeing the beautiful scenery, village life, rice paddy’s and some beautiful temples. Nyoman offered insightful commentary with our stops and took pictures for us. The ride ended with us graciously being invited to his family home for a delicious lunch prepared by his wife. (We are still talking of this lunch!) A huge thank you to Nyoman for memories that will last forever!

Nyoman greeted us in the morning at our resort. The 4 of us were privileged to have Nyoman and Made for our own private tour.
We were able to experience a tranquil and hypnotic bike ride, gliding through local villages and scenic rice paddies. Chatting to the locals and rice growers along the way.
Made was very knowledgeable regarding the local surroundings.
Im not sure what the highlight of our trip was?... The down hill bike ride or the amazing lunch Nyomans wife provided us in their village.
I have participated over the years with several companies with the bike rides but I can honestly say by supporting a local company, you truly experience the authentic Bali which travelers seem to miss!

Balinese Cooking Class Review
It was delightful to be taught how to cook a number of Balinese dishes by Nyoman Dupa in his traditional Balinese village home. After being picked up at our hotel we visited traditional market where locals shop. Nyoman told us the males and uses of many local fruits, vegetables and spices. It was interesting to also see the packets of food and handmade objects that were for sale for Nyepi. We then made a stop for a coffee and tea demonstration which was efficient and informative.
Nyoman Dupa has a culinary arts degree and experience managing restaurants so he was well qualified to teach the class. The ingredients were fresh and organized to make the class efficient and fun. It was a real pleasure to cook in Nyoman’s traditional Balinese home where 25 members of his extended family live. We enjoyed seeing his mother, wife, daughter and grandaughter during the class.
We loved eating the delicious food we made for lunch. On the way back to our hotel, He kindly went far out of his way to take us to a wood carving shop that we wanted to visit. Nyoman sent us the recipes for the food he taught us to prepare. We look forward to making them at home.
We highly recommend this cooking class.
