This is a wonderful half day experience beginning with a trip to an authentic food market with the very friendly and knowledgeable Sang Made. After that we were into the flavors, spices, chopping and cooking and general deliciousness of being under the careful eye of wonderful chef Dewa. My daughter and I loved every moment of this experience. We made vegetarian saté, fern tip and green bean salad, sambal ulek and topped off with a dessert of Balinese crèpes with palm sugar and grated coconut. The loveliest part was to do all this within the walls of the Lobong family compound... so very beautiful and welcoming. What can I say? I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

This cooking classed surpassed all my expectations. The host Sang made was very welcoming and friendly after picking us up and doing a tour of the local market. A very engaging morning as he asks questions and answers them for you about the local Balinese culture and traditions. The compound was absolutely beautiful and clean the chef was also very friendly and polite throughout the session we thoroughly enjoyed this day and would recommend to anyone! Please attend and you will not regret it, such an excellent Authentic Balinese experience!

So much more than just a cooking class! Fantastic insight into Balinese culture and family life. Market visit, family compound and very very enjoyable class, topped off by a great lunch made for a brilliant day. Not the usual Bali stuff, but put it on your radar. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at Lobong Cooking School. Our host Sang Made was very warm and welcoming. After picking us up we went to the local fruit and vegetable market. Sang was extremely knowledgeable - not only did we learn a lot about local fruit and vegetables, we also got an extensive insight into balinese customs, religion and culture. The cooking class took place at the beautiful family compound, and apart from cooking we were also allowed to witness the temple offering ceremony conducted by Sang's mother. Dewa, the chef, took us through the tips and tricks of balinese cooking - from how to cook perfectly fluffy rice to making our own spicy sambal. He explained everything in detail and very patiently and we created a delicious 3-course vegetarian meal (vegetarian was optional) that we enjoyed in the lush surroundings of the family garden. Our day at Lobong exceeded our expectations and it will be one of our fondest memories of our Indonesia trip.
