Monkeys are aggressive and BITE. My wife suffered approx 10 bites to head and required hair shaved off to treat wounds. Then followed by rabies jabs. However, there is NO Immunoglobulin available in Indonesia. Immunoglobulin is required for immediate rabies protection. (The rabies jabs antibodies do not kick in for 7 days).
We did not have food or in anyway upset the monkeys.
Our holiday was ruined coping with all this.
DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

It's my first experience where I fed monkeys and took them on my shoulders. I am very scared of monkeys but the staff working here encourage me for it...It's an unforgettable experience.

Great attraction. We were dubious before we went due to seeing reviews online about how aggressive the monkeys are.
We saw no aggression what so ever and only hassles those with food (there is a no food policy, but some idiots decided the ignore that rule).
The park rangers were only to happy to take photos and help coax the monkeys in order to get great photos.
The only downside is that some on the paths are slippery, but if you wear the right footwear it shouldn’t be a problem!

I am happy to say that the sanctuary is now much more peaceful. They have done away with the vendors and have food in designated areas provided for the monkeys around the park. The experience now is much less stressful - the monkeys run around doing monkey things and only paying a little attention to the visitors. They will still occasionally jump on someone to try to grab a flashy object, but overall it was very chill and enjoyable.

This place is good for you who seek a lite tracking activity but also love to visit temple at Bali, The monkey forest as the name of this place there is soo many wild monkeys in this area, most of the monkeys are friendly but still have to be careful with your stuff.
One of the most famous thing from this place is the "selfie monkey" the staff that work here sometimes can help you to get the selfie.

I have been going to Monkey Forest for over 10 years, I love how lush it is it. However, on our last visit a few days ago we were just walking through and out of no where my husband was bite. I think the monkey might have been scared by a passing by scooter. I am so glad it wasn't my son, please do not take your kids. My husband is still doing rabies shots.

We were staying in Ubud and of course we had to visit Monkey Forest. Our son absolutely loved it. Well kept areas and humble monkeys. The staff members will take pictures for you as they know how to deal with monkeys. Everyone was very polite and friendly. We had a lovely time.

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a must visit in Bali. But please beware of your belongings. The monkeys may try to jump on you and zip open your bag, or even steal your phone or sunglasses. I saw a monkey jump on top of a woman trying to steal her hat, and another case where a monkey was trying to open someone's backpack

Bonjour,
Petite question ! Je pars bientôt à Bali et je voudrai connaître le secret pour obtenir le fameux selfie avec le singe ! Comment avez-vous fait ?
Merci !
Hi. We have one big travel backpack and will go through the ubud, is there any safe place there to leave the bag free or for money while taking the walk?

There isn’t a safe place to store it once you’re past the ticket people. Lots of people took their backpacks. However I’d suggest talking to the ticket counter and seeing if they can look after it for you.

Wann ist letzter Einlass? Bzw muss man genau um 18 Uhr außen sein oder ist dieser Wald eher offen und öffentlich?

I was trying to find the admission price. I keep seeing great deals on swing packages but it says admission prices not included

I have just come back from Bali and it was 80,000 IDR entrance fee, which is roughly $8 AUD or $6 US.

Is it safe to take a 1 year old baby to this sanctuary!?! Do the monkeys come up close to you while walking around!?!

Yes the monkeys can and often will jump on you. They climbed up on my boyfriends head and rode around for a while. There were a few children (under 5) while we were there and most were quite freaked out, a lot were crying. Personally I would STRONGLY discourage bringing the little ones!!

Hello everyone,
I’m very interested in visiting here in the near future and being such I have a few questions, if you have time.
In a general sense monkeys are wild animals and I would assume this means there can be some unpredictable behavior. Does anyone know if it would be suitable to visit for a person with poorly functioning motor neurons? This can effect my walking and even talking at times and I am worried the monkeys might respond adversely to something and maybe (not knowing that I am disabled obviously as they are wild) and perhaps injure me?
Other than the above concern I am really looking forward to this adventure.
Thank you

In my opinion I do not think the monkeys will seek you out. If a monkey seems interested you can turn around and walk away.

Consiglio Tirta empul, tegellalang risaie, tirta gangga, vulcano batur, tanah lot.

Hello, is there a dress code regarding the temples within the sanctuary?

The actual temples are closed to the public. Therefore you can wear your everyday attire. I do suggest wearing comfortable shoes as there is a beautiful walk within the grounds with steps and boardwalks.
