museum in the garden
Nov 2019
visited ARMA the art museum last year in November,it was the second time i came here.the first time,i joined a woodcarving class, after that,i visited the arts museum. since it was many years ago,so this time, when i stayed around this area,i just want to visit the museum again,to see its arts collection,so came here again.the collection is great, after many years,my knowledge of Balinese painting increased,so the feeling different from the first time.this museum located in a garden, the surroundings is nice and beautiful, took many photos here.there is an arts shop attached, also a cafe inside, when you buy the ticket, you can get one free Balinese snack and a cup of coffee or tea.so you can have a very artistic day here. there are many arts workshop held here,i even admired a male dance teacher teaching local kids how to dance, all are boys, very special, cuz most dance is for girls or woman, but the dance he taught is for man, maybe it is Baris Dance, not sure of it,may learn it in the future.

Stunning Art Museum and Sanctuary
Mar 2020
This art museum in the center of Ubud is a gem. It is filled with important works by Balinese artists that span many generations and traditional mediums. The owner of the museum is often on site and available to converse about the mission of the museum. He is a fine man; genuine in his love for Bali and the artists whose work he helps to promote and preserve. One feels welcome, protected and inspired all at once!

A beautiful place to visit
Jan 2020
The museum was next door to our hotel. Gorgeous grounds to wander around. The art is beautiful too. Agung Rai was sitting on a bench enjoying the day when we were there and graciously allowed us to take his picture with us. He has done a lot to keep the culture and traditions of Bali passed along to the younger generations.

Very rewarding to visit, especially the much used gardens.
Jan 2020
The galleries themselves are nice, if a tad limited in scope. The gardens and grounds are a hive of activity: children practicing Balinese dance, Westerners learning traditional art, craftsmen restoring stonework, artists sketching. All in all, very pleasant to walk around for 90 minutes or so.

Worth it just for the oasis
Nov 2019
Before you even get stuck into the art and digesting all of that, this musuem is set within such a charming Ubud oasis. It's worth going in just to wander around the grounds, admire the buildings and enjoy the atmosphere. It's so peaceful and charming. Then, you also have all of the wonderful art! I really like the modern building most.

Great arts & culture centre in a beautiful tranquil setting
Oct 2019
We attended a gamelan workshop, visited the museum, saw the children practicing dance and watched the Sunday night Legong performance.
All was excellent and gave us a valuable insight into the rich Balinese culture.
Highly recommend it.

Some Compelling Art, Confused Presentation
Oct 2019 • Solo
Unlike the other art museums in town, which are thematically monotonous, there is a richness of artwork here though the traditional pavilion suffers in the same way. The modern building has a number of striking pieces that really grab your attention. The grounds too have both interesting artifacts and some really pretty nature. It is difficult and confusing to find your way around and it appears that they are trying to do too much and invest in too many projects. The paintings are well marked, but the site would profit from better outside signage and arrows.
