This site is a must do when visiting East Java as anyone who has been will tell you. The walk up is not difficult and it does require some willingness as it is long. Some choose the donkey ride that does not breach the summit...More

Got an ojek from Bromo to Ranu Pane, registered and hired a tent and sleeping bag (100,000 rupiah for both for two days). The mats seemed so thin I didn’t bother for the extra weight. Started hike at about 11.30am to 12pm and reached Kalimati...More

Typical of all Indonesian mountain, the hike to the peak is challenging - 45 degrees hike on loose sand gravel and stones. Dangerous because stone will roll and hit people below you, and for every step uphill you take, you will slide down 2 steps....More

This is the tallest mountain in Java and provides spectacular views from Bromo. But you need to go to Mount Bromo before sunrise to have a good view. By mid-morning mountain cover with the clouds.

There are plenty of descriptions of the home itself so I'll leave you to read those. What I will say is that this hike is utterly incredible, you see such a variety of landscapes and the final 'summit attack' is like nothing I've ever experienced....More

This is the highest volcano in Java, so I won't recommend it for inexperienced hikers. People usually spend 3D/2N here. Day 1: start from Ranupane, stop at Ranukumbolo and stay for a night. There is a large lake here, where you can resupply waters. Day...More

Don't do it. The weather can change drastically within hours, especially on the rainy season. Sometimes there is even a blizzard. It's too risky for a two year old kid.
