Good historical site, but bad parking

A decend Dutch heritage building, a landmark of Semarang, well maintained, unfortunately the parking is not provided.

Lawang Sewu, meaning Thousand Windows, is a Dutch building in Semarang. It used to be the ticketing office for the railway in Semarang. The Indonesians know it well for its superstitious sensation. When at night, there are lamps surrounding the building that it gives different sense when it's during the day.

We went there mostly for pictures. The building itself is well maintained and clean. When we were there, there are also many groups of tourists. So it is quite a challange to photograph the building without any tourists running around in frame :)

Historical heritage that must be preserved. This building has many doors, therefore it is called Lawang Sewu. The entry fee is Rp. 10.000. This building is one of the landmarks of Semarang and also famous for its mystical story. So try it yourself exploring every room in this building.

It truly is a beautifull building but not good for foreigners. Most of the info is in bahasa and some in dutch so not interesting for people who can only understand english

The old building is well maintained and preserved. The underground was closed due to reconstruction, too bad I couldn't get in. After all, even without the underground challenge, the horror was strongly sensed for sure!

Thank Astrid P
