Awesome and challenging walk up gunung kerinci. So much wildlife. We did the walk with Een Endatno (endatno@gmail.com) and Paiman. Endatno was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the volcano and the wildlife around it. He also spoke great English. Paiman was great company too! Endatno can guide for a good price and is great at communicating and organising the trip.

Booked a 2D/1N Mount Kerinchi trekking trip with veteran guide Een. What is included:
3.5M / Pax
What is in?
1) 2 way Xfer from Pdg airport.
2) 2 porters & 1 guide
3) Home stay that overlooking the Kerinchi peak.
4) Camp at shelter 3.
4). All meals after check in Homestay.
The trekking to the summit really put our physical strength into test. We summit Rinjani Peak but this peak is another level.
From the starting point to Post 1 are mainly flat trail which we took it for granted. It started to slope up after Post 1. Shelter 2 to 3 trekking is tough at the same time fun because occasionally we will need to climb using rope. We camp at shelter 3 and blessed with the view of thousand stars above our head. Weather is cool and fresh.
The reward of reaching to the summit is the spectacular view during sunrise, a majestic view of the crater which is still live, and sense of great achievement of reaching the top of the tallest volcano in SEA or 7th in Asia.
Credit to Een for making the trekking trip safe and fun for us. He even allowed us to stay half a day FOC at his home stay due to ourself are so beaten down after descending. Thanks and well done ! Een.

Saw multiple recommendations here for Endatno (endatno@gmail.com) as local guide. Emailed him right away and his response was super fast, we exchanged number and from there communication was easily done via whatsapp.
Endatno was nothing but the best guide you’ll ever need. He has climbed the mountain many times, so he’s super experience. He gave us realistic hike time and was pretty accurate. He understands the mountain inside out, and that’s a key factor to getting a good guide. There were moments my friends and I were either injured, slow or tired. It’s with such ordeals that you’ll see someone’s true self. Endatno remained true to himself and stood by us patiently. He truly filled us with endless encouragements throughout the entire journey from kerinci gate to the summit. He often made the effort to create conversations with each of us while hiking, to distract us from the tiredness! Littlest things that matters and goes a long way, whatever to get the hiking going. He definitely guided us and took care of our safety amazingly well and efficiently!
His motto will always be “aman aman sahaja”.
Translates to “be at ease, stay calm always”.
Funny guy too! Highly recommend him!!!!!! 10/10
As a whole, kerinci was magnificent. But to get an amazing view, you’ll have to struggle first. No pain no gain, but it’s worth it. It’s a mountain, covered with different types of terrains. I must say shelter 2 to 3 was the longest ever, while shelter 3 to base camp was an experience I’ll never forget. 10/10.
Package:
2 days/ 1 night trek.
Included porter, camping gear and meals.
But if you’re a beginner, consider doing 3days/ 2 night trek, slow and easy pace will do the work.
We also engaged his transport service:
1. From Minangkabau airport to Swarga Lodge ~8-9hrs climb (highly recommend Swarga lodge before/after your kerinci climb, check them out!)
2. From Swarga Lodge to Padi Ecolodge ~9-10hrs
We compared with other offers, he gave us the best rate!

My girlfriend and I visited Mount Kerinci during February of 2019. Our guide was Endatno Een. He was mentioned on the tripadvisor page multiple times and came highly recommended. And rightfully so. Afer contacting Endatno he basically managed our entire trip for us by giving us advice on how to reach Kerinci, where to stay and so on.
We were quite worried about the weather back then as we had heard that weather conditions during that time of year are often not perfect and the weather can change quite fast. Endatno gave us a realistic assessment of the situation though and encouraged us to do the hike even though we might get wet.
For that we are grateful because the hike itself was amazing even though we did get wet (like extremely wet) on the way down. The reason why the hike was so great for us was the vegetation that changed with each stage of the mountain, the chance to see some rare animals as well as the specacular view from the summit area. When the sky cleared you were able to see the Kerinci valley other mountain areas and even the ocean at the horizon.
The hike itself was not extremely easy but definetly manageable as we are not experienced hikers and only somewhat sporty. It was important to have Endatno though as he and his colleague carried the supplies and the tent and you definetly need a guide for directions.
All in all the hike on Mount Kerinci made for an unforgettable experience and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great experience off the beaten track to give it a try. And give Endatno a call. With him you got the right guide!
Cheers.

I was guided by Mr Endatno (endatno@gmail.com) for a 2 days/ 1 night trek to the mount. For a really reasonnable price, he will welcome you from your arrival in the village before the hike and help you for everything you'll need about transportation to your next stop, accomodation and so on.
I highly recommend this guide.

I came to Kersik Tuo as a solo traveller and originally wanted to try to get on a 2d1n trip with a group. When I arrived I asked around and it seemed very quiet, so this didn't seem likely. Having read various reviews on trip advisor I decided to contact Een. Een was very approachable and actually came and met me where I was having dinner to discuss the hike and my needs. Budget was a big thing to me and Een lowered and already reasonable price without me asking him to.
The climb itself was tough but enjoyable, and Een really looked after me in terms of advice, food and drink. I summited twice, one on the first afternoon and once at sunrise.
Een even helped me arrange forward transport from Kersik Tuo which I was struggling to organise myself, and came and met me when the bus arrived in the evening to make sure I got on safely and the driver understood what I needed!
I'd highly recommend the climb, and using Een as a good local guide. His number is +6285266266992

We climbed Kerinci volcano and travel + hike totally worth it. First the hike in the jungle is really nice especially if your enjoy wildlife, we saw many birds, squirrels and monkeys. Second the view from the top of the volcano with the sunrise is just breathtaking. Make sure you bring warm clothes or a jacket against the wind. We hiked with Een Endatatno who is probably the person who climbed the most this volcano. He has been a guide for 20 years and has climbed the Kerinci over a thousand times! Everything was perfectly organised for a really reasonable price. He has a very good English and it’s really nice to do the hike with him. If you want to contact him go to his website gokerinci.com where you’ll find his contact details.

Hi, how did you organize your ride from Padang to Kersik Tuo? Did you have request a car/van beforehand or was it easy to find someone to take you? Thank you!

Its a day's drive from padang and recommended to prearrange transport. Try searching for kerinci guides online, there are a few notable ones who will be able to assist (they do guiding for the lake as well). Hope this helps.
