Supposedly this is on the spot where it was announced that Mary was going to give birth to Jesus...but who knows. In any event a large church was built here that is decorated inside and,out with large panels depicting Mary given from countries around the...More

The place is well maintained and free to visitors, however, it's a little disappointing as you would expect more - not sure what, but that's how I felt. May be an audio- visual presentation?

There’s really not much to see in Nazareth but Biblical places. This is where Mary was announced that she was having baby Jesus. There’s also excavations under. Try visiting in a tour that captures Capernaum, Galilee and Tiberias.

According to Catholic tradition, it signifies the location where angel Gabriel appeared to Virgin Mary to announce that she would conceive and bear the Son of God, Jesus. If you are on a pilgrimage, it is a must see place to visit.

The Church of Annunciation has been at the site which was believed to be the home of the Virgin Mary. The angel had come and told Mother Mary at the age of 14 that she would be the mother of the Son of God.

This church contains many interesting paintings and sculptures of Mary, created by artists from around the world. I'm not religious, but I found the many unique cultural variations of Mary's image to be quite fascinating.

I could spend hours admiring the different depictions of holy Mary made by nations all over the world. The most astounding thing is how the ethnic perceptions blend perfectly with the catholic faith. And in all of them, our lady looks full of peace.
