The New York State Capitol has served as the seat of government for New York since the 1880's. Over 125 years old, the building is a marvel of late 19th-century architectural grandeur. Built by hand of solid masonry, it took 5 architects and 32 years to complete. Over the years meticulous restoration has been done to maintain and protect the Capitol for future generations of New Yorkers.

The NY State Capitol is breathtaking from the wonderful wrought iron elevator, to the sandstone carved staircases, to the mural in the War Room. Definitely worth a visit. Such a juxtaposition to the modernity of the Empire Plaza and Egg.

Took the tour. Informative. Beautiful building. Well worth the time. The guide recommended coming twice: once during the summer and once while the house and senate are in session to see the activists and protesters.

Don't miss this jewel. It is a must see in Albany. An architecture beauty. So much history. I enjoyed seeing the interior and exterior equally. So lovely.

Take time to take a guided tour of the Capitol. The guide knows all of the secrets of the halls. Don't miss the grand Staircase. Just beautiful. Ask about faces in the carvings.

When working downtown (or going to court, or going to jury duty), be sure to stop at the park with vendors. Variety of food and a great place to meet new people!

Beautiful place to visit. The Interior is typically European. The history of Albany Governors is there to see. Got a chance to see the assembly. Wonderful experience. Guides are available
