Almost surreal. Just stunning. Go early morning as this is when the temple is most active. Just be respectful as locals are praying. There are also many people hiking. Get off at the metro station Beomeosa and then take a taxi or bus 90. Alternatively hike up. We took a taxi from the station up which was cheap and bus 90 back down when we had finished. Ask someone as the bus doesn't stop directly by the metro station. The temple grounds and mountain views were just magical. Peaceful, mystical and as I said surreal. We walked around for just over an hour. Wear good shoes as there is uphill climbing. Some of the temple buildings are closed to tourists but most are open. There are some information boards with facts about the temple. These are helpful but basic. Suggest also taking a guide book or reading up about the temple before going.

The travel guide book I read describes Beomeosa as an “urban temple” so I was quite shocked to discover I would have to walk 3 km up a mountain from the metro station. Luckily the bus 90 will take you there. It is way worth the climb. The temple is beautiful and well maintained, set on a magnificent and green mountain. Very peaceful, one will forget the busy city just under

The hike isn’t easy for everyone, but it’s worth it.

Park for free at the bottom near main entrance and hike up to the temple and several hermitages and pavilions.

If you don’t like lots of stairs or inclines, pay the ₩3000 to drive up near the top. Plenty of restrooms on site. Beautiful area to take in nature and the majesty of the Temple. This place is a must see!!

This is a very fine Buddhist temple located in the hills around Busan. It is really nice in the fall because of the orange and red colors of the trees. It is a very peaceful place contrasting with the city of Busan. It is easy to walk around, it is very clean, and colorful.

To get there, you have to take the metro and stop at Beomeosa (line 1) and then look for the bus station which is located one block from the exit in direction to the hills. Then you take bus 90 and you are at temple in less than 10 minutes. To go back you do the same in reverse order. You can stop in one of the very nice coffee shops located close to the bus station for a cup pf coffee, tea, ice cream, and pastries.

You can spent one to two hours at the temple. Participate in their ceremonies. There are several, nice sanctuaries. It is not crowded.

There is no entrance fee.

The grounds are very nice and the temple is interesting. You can stay there as a retreat. Behind the main temple is a long hike up to the top of the mountain behind. Take care on the stones going up and down.

I did an overnight templestay at Beomeosa Temple (you can make a reservation on their website). It was a good mini break from the city life with no-meat food, 108 prostrations, early morning hike etc.. A lot of older people come here to go on hikes early in the morning. The temple is also very accessible to public transportation with Bus#90 and Line #1.

Conveniently located with options of walking from Beomosa subway station or taking bus 90 to the temple at Won1300 per adult.
The peaceful and calm atmosphere at entrance was soothing with lots of vegetation.
Well maintained park and a nice walk along the main path passing decorative gates to the main temple. Visitors can participate in prayers at temple too.
Worth to donate a tile for the temple upkeep with your wishes, name written on the tile at Won10,000 a tile.
A spring water flow at temple is cooling and drinkable.
Not crowded as the spacious compound with surrounding hills suitable/popular for hiking as well. A well worthy visit amongst the Temples of Korea👍👍👍

Went end of October but trees are still mostly green. Interesting 600 year old fertile female Gingko trees with lots of Gingko fruits. Nice walk uphill.

The temple is ok, like many other korean temples but it gets very crowded. The setting is beautiful and hiking to the diffent hermitages is even better than the temple itself in my opinion
